Dr. Caleb Matthews was supposed to graduate this year from our cardiothoracic surgery residency program.
Instead, Caleb passed away last November after 3.5 year battle against a rare form of lung cancer.
We miss him every day. ❤️
Please help us honor the legacy of Dr. Matthews and consider making a donation to the Caleb Rice Matthews Memorial Cardiothoracic Surgical Education on #Wellness and #Resilience.

Be a better surgical antimicrobial steward!! Antibiotic redosing prior to incision is not necessary for most patients with appendicitis. See work from @shannonlenore17 in journals.lww.com/annalsofsur… @APSASurgeons @PIDSociety @MGHSurgery @BCHPedSurg

70+ police cars from local law enforcement agencies drove past @ChildrensPgh today to visit 8-year-old Joshua Eastman, who is battling leukemia. Joshua dreams of being a police officer one day. Law enforcement agencies nationwide have sent him patches to show their support.
