Be careful.
Another stormy day for the west. More tornadoes? We hope not, but there's a chance. Hail will be the largest threat with hail stones that could surpass 2" in diameter (lime size)

Cut the catch! Menhaden shouldn't be fish meal or made into oil, they are an essential part of the ocean, coastal, and Chesapeake Bay ecosystems whose services both people and wildlife depend on. washingtonpost.com/climate-e…

A strong non-tropical low pressure area is expected to form during the next day or two off of the eastern coast of the U.S. This low is likely to move slowly and erratically through the middle of next week, and some subtropical development is possible during this time. Regardless of development, this system will cause high winds, coastal flooding, and dangerous surf along portions of the U.S. East Coast. Please consult statements and warnings from local National Weather Service offices and the @NWSWPC for more information. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 0 percent. * Formation chance through 7 days...low...20 percent.

Kilauea Message 2026-10-17 04:21:15 HST. The north vent fountain has grown to about 250 feet (80 m) high and is at least as wide. The fountain is feeding a broad sheet of lava into Halema'uma'u crater. Wind is from the northeast and tephra is within the closed area of HVNP.

Working on an upcoming talk with....with so much #misinformation out there (intentional and unintentional), asking questions, science credibility, and building trust are more important than ever!

What caused Nepal's Budhi Gandaki flood today? Experts think a landslide blocked a side river high in Gorkha, and the water burst through early this morning. Satellite images show a big landslide near Chumchet, apparently from Saturday. Residents also talk of an avalanche off Mount Shringi, but nobody has confirmed it. The river is flowing again but keeps rising and falling, so the danger isn't over downstream. My opinion?....Climate change.

When I was little, the thing that terrified me most about earthquakes was the ground opening up and swallowing me. This is in Panama after yesterday’s M7.7 earthquake…

We're excited for this event and to have a little fun while talking about a serious topic-Combating #misinformation. We need to build trust in science and scientists, questioning what you read and see is a big part of that. If you're looking for speakers and agree..get in touch!

Hurricane #isaias is preparing for an onshore arrival Friday evening and early Saturday morning between Pascagoula, MS and Panama City FL. Warnings and evacuations are underway. Please finish up preps today and leave if you are asked. Hoping for an increase in that shear sooner rather than later, but NHC still brings in a 105mph Cat2 cane. Be safe all.

Don't do this. Please avoid roads that have raging water coming across. This was the scene on Monday in NM as tropical moisture continues to surge into this region.
