Jackie Chan has spent decades showing the world that age doesn’t have to slow you down, and Hidden Strike (2023) delivered another perfect example of his legendary talent. During filming, Chan struggled to insert a magazine into John Cena’s prop gun, missing the move seven takes in a row. But instead of breaking character or getting frustrated, he turned each mistake into a hilarious moment by effortlessly rolling backward, making it appear as though the scene was being rewound. It was a brilliant display of improvisation and physical comedy.
John Cena was blown away by Chan’s energy and athleticism. Reflecting on the experience, he praised the action legend, saying, “His energy just doesn’t stop. The man is 69 and is fitter than me.” Coming from a former WWE superstar known for his incredible strength and conditioning, that compliment says everything.
It’s moments like these that explain why Jackie Chan remains one of the most beloved action stars in cinema history. His creativity, remarkable agility, and natural comedic timing allow him to turn even the smallest on-set mishaps into unforgettable entertainment. After decades in the industry, Chan continues to prove that his greatest superpower isn’t just performing incredible stunts, but making every moment look effortlessly entertaining.

This moment of genius from Jimmy Greaves is 61 years old today.
So much to enjoy here: the balance, the poise, and then the effortless finish.
One of the greatest to ever do it.

Five years ago today, Sir David Amess was killed while serving the people of Southend West.
I knew David as a kind, tireless colleague who dedicated his life to public service. His death was a terrible reminder of the risks faced by those in public life, and of our responsibility to ensure that everyone can serve their communities without fear.
Today, we remember David’s extraordinary commitment to the people he represented, and the lasting loss felt by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Here's a musical reflection on Trump's latest violation, undermining Ukraine's prospects. Again sung in their support, and adapting #bobdylan's beautiful refrain to make the point that "It Ain't Kyiv, Babe" starting wars.

"For now, he is still a Premier League and FA Cup winner... until he has to mail those winners medals back to somebody at Stoke City or Manchester United." 💀
