Massachusetts, we’ve got a Nor’easter headed our way, with heavy rain and strong winds expected this weekend.
We're keeping a close eye on the forecast and coordinating with local and federal public safety partners. Be ready for possible flooding and power outages.

The @NWSBoston is forecasting a Nor’easter that will impact Massachusetts this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with the most significant impacts on Cape Cod and the Islands.
Tips for preparing ahead of the storm:
• Monitor conditions closely and ensure that Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEAs) are enabled on your cell phone. If your community has a reverse 911 system, you should sign up to receive local warnings. ✔️
• Make sure your home emergency kit is stocked with supplies that could help in the event of a power outage, including a flashlight and extra batteries. ✔️

An incredible act of courage, and a well-deserved honor.
When TJ Swenson encountered a shooting on Memorial Drive in Cambridge, he stepped in to help protect others until law enforcement arrived.
Last week, Secretary Kwon joined Governor Healey, Lieutenant Governor Driscoll, and the Sweeney family to honor TJ with the 2026 Madeline “Amy” Sweeney Award for Civilian Bravery.
Twenty-five years after 9/11, Amy’s legacy of courage and selflessness continues to inspire us. Congratulations, TJ!

School is back, which means more school buses, more kids, and more reasons to slow down🎒
Give school buses plenty of space, obey stop signs and flashing lights, and stay alert in school zones💛

The Massachusetts story is, at its heart, a story about ordinary people who find extraordinary courage when others need them most.
We see that courage in people like Madeline Amy Sweeney, a flight attendant who, in the face of unimaginable danger, provided critical information to those on the ground and helped others in her final moments.
We saw that same courage this past May in TJ Swenson, who put his own safety at risk to help people escape the line of fire during an active shooter situation on Memorial Drive.
These acts remind us that heroism isn’t always planned. Sometimes, it’s simply the choice to step forward when others are in danger — to put someone else’s life ahead of your own.
It was a true honor to present this year’s Madeline Amy Sweeney Award for Civilian Bravery to TJ Swenson. His courage reflects the very spirit of this award and the best of who we are as a state.
We remember. We honor. And we are grateful for those who choose to step up.
Today, on the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, we remember the 2,977 lives lost, honor the first responders and emergency personnel who answered the call, and stand with the families and loved ones forever changed by that day.
