Psalm 118 : 24
Jesus Christ, my God, I adore You and thank You for all the graces You have given me this day. I offer You my sleep and all the moments of this night. I place myself and all my loved ones, wherever they may be, in Your sacred side and under the mantle of Our Blessed Mother. Let Your holy angels stand watch and keep us in peace. Amen.
“Supper at Emmaus” is a late work by the Dutch master Rembrandt van Rijn, painted in 1648. This version differs markedly from earlier interpretations of the same subject, emphasizing quiet revelation over dramatic gesture.
Theme and Composition: The painting depicts the moment when the resurrected Christ is recognized by two disciples during a meal at Emmaus. Unlike more theatrical compositions, Rembrandt arranges the figures in a restrained, intimate setting. Christ sits centrally at the table, while the disciples are positioned around him, their gestures subdued. The architectural backdrop—an arched, shadowed interior—frames the scene and enhances its contemplative atmosphere.
It is now in the Louvre in Paris.

🙏 Amen.
Ange Bastelica 🙏🇫🇷❤️

Father Burke’s Homily for today’s Mass:
October 26, 2026 – Monday of the 30th Week of Ordinary Time
Have you ever felt that a particular sin, weakness, or wound would plague you for the rest of your life? Perhaps you have thought, “This is just the way I am. Things will never change. Not even God can heal me.” These thoughts can keep us trapped in discouragement and prevent us from experiencing the freedom God desires for us.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus encounters a woman who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years. Imagine the physical pain, emotional suffering, and discouragement she must have experienced. Perhaps she wondered whether her life would ever be different. Then she encountered Jesus, and everything changed. He called her forward, laid His hands on her, and immediately she stood up straight and glorified God.
Jesus wants to bring healing into our lives, too.
For many years, I believed several lies: that I had to live with certain sins forever, that I needed to be perfect to earn God’s love, and that God could not heal certain wounds. Through prayer and the power of God’s grace, I have learned to reject these lies and embrace the truth that nothing is impossible for God.
Why doesn’t God physically heal everyone? We may not fully understand His ways, but we know that He desires our ultimate salvation. Physical healing is a tremendous gift, but spiritual healing is essential to our journey toward heaven. Even those whom Jesus healed eventually died. Every cross we carry can become an opportunity to grow in holiness and draw closer to Him.
How can we invite Jesus into our wounds?
First, approach Him with faith. If your faith is weak, ask Him to strengthen it.
Second, reject the lies you have believed. Pray, “In the name of Jesus Christ, I renounce the lie that I will never change. Jesus, You are the Way, the Truth, and the Life.”
Third, come before the Lord in humility and daily prayer. Ask for healing specifically, seek the prayers of others, and trust that Jesus hears you.
Finally, surrender to God’s will. Healing may come in ways we do not expect, through the sacraments, prayer, professional help, the love of others, or the grace to carry our crosses with peace.
St. Paul reminds us in today’s first reading to “be imitators of God, as beloved children” (Ephesians 5:1). You are God’s beloved child. Your sins and wounds do not define you. His love does.
Do not believe the lie that things can never change. Bring your wounds to Jesus today and allow His grace to lead you toward freedom.
Reflection Questions
1What sin, wound, or lie have I believed that makes me feel I cannot change?
2What specific healing do I need to ask Jesus for today?
3How can I surrender more fully to God’s will while trusting in His love?
Have a blessed Monday!
