More upsets today. Again, my students are leaning hard into the Early Repuplic and Exploration eras. #marchmadness #ushistory

My students started their own March Madness this week. First day of the first round had a few upsets, but they just show we haven't gotten to the Civil War yet. ##marchmadness #history

I'd love you see "trying to buy Taylor Swift tickets" kind of hard work out of the students this week. #ticketmaster #howaboutconstitutionmaster
I love to let kids work together on simulations. It is good way to get the kids to buy in and simulates real life. #cmstweets @cmslakers

On this day in 1765, the British Parliament enacted the Stamp Act. This deeply unpopular taxation measure forced American colonists to use special stamped paper for printing things like newspapers, pamphlets, and playing cards.
Anyone who says "kids these days..." and follows it with anything negative...doesn't know kids these days. They impress me every single day with their intellect, their compassion, and their hope. They have it so much more together than I did. Kids these days are brilliant.
If you're asking "Why teach mere facts when people can google them anytime they want?" here's one possible reason.
If you're interested in competency-based or standards-referenced schooling, this conference will help out.
I really like to follow other teachers. They are in the trenches and often have the best advice and ideas. Mr. Emrich is one of those teachers I love to follow. If you are a social studies teacher add him! @mremrich1 #cmstweets @cmslakers

I wish our students knew how important education really was. A HS dropout is more likely to be unemployed. 60% of jobs require education past a HS diploma. 80%+of jobs that pay more than $65,000 require HS diploma+. Education opens up possibilities. #cmstweets @cmslakers
