As Hispanic Heritage Month comes to a close, ENA recognizes the emergency and forensic nurses who show up each day mindful of the cultures and traditions that inform their practice and their inclusive spirit when treating people regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Approximately 10 percent of the 3.5 million registered nurses in the U.S. identify as Hispanic or Latino, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, as well as nearly 16 percent of licensed practical nurses and 7 percent of advanced practice nurses. Their contributions and those of health care professionals before them make a difference in everyday lives of today.

Adrianne Haslet's riveting and emotional story of surviving the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing punctuated the final day of Emergency Nursing 2026 with gratitude for the health care workers who saved her life - and a message to "play the hell out of the cards" you’re dealt no matter how difficult they might be.
Afterward, Haslet met with several ENA members, including an emotional Dan Nadworny who cared for many patients injured the day of bombing.
“Medical air transport teams dedicate themselves every day to caring for the sick and injured in the most difficult circumstances and moments when every second matters. Today, ENA mourns with REACH Air Medical Services and the families of those involved in Wednesday’s tragic crash off the coast of Los Angeles. ENA also expresses its deep appreciation and gratitude to the first responders who acted quickly to do all that was possible for the helicopter’s occupants.”
