@pulte Hope you get this b/c it would be a game changer in commercial construction segment - retention bonds in lieu of retainage. Need legislation to get it pass at state level - if federal funded projects allowed this then the states would follow. Imagine 7MM in retainage & I could pay 100k to get access to it tomorrow - everyone would do it. This new cash flow would be an bonus every year to contractors who are use to financing jobs by retainage current practice. 1MM a year more into my biz will allow us to expand and invest in training American workers at good wages. Think about it

This AI industrial racket is out of control. It's identical to the 1902 Biologics Control Act. Top pharmaceutical makers sounded the alarm about poisons being distributed everywhere. They begged Washington to intervene to stop the disaster. Politicians complied and codified the industry with incumbents in control while declaring their products as safe and effective. Same old scam. brownstone.org/articles/how-…

It is the honor of a lifetime to accept President Trump’s nomination to serve as the next United States Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Having served in the region both in combat as an Army officer and for two years as a diplomatic liaison in the Kingdom, I understand the strategic importance of the partnership between the United States and Saudi Arabia and the profound responsibility of this position. Service has always defined my life. My immediate family has given more than sixty years to our military. My brother, sister, and I graduated from West Point, served in combat, and, at one point, were all deployed to Iraq simultaneously. I am deeply grateful to President Trump for his confidence in me. When confirmed, I will serve with humility and honor, advance his vision of peace through strength and deepen this vital partnership.

The Right needs to understand that rapid progress in AI and robotics will significantly undermine the incentives for mass migration. Accelerate robots, decelerate migration. Mutually reinforcing system.

Translation: our gross margins are getting competed down to 0 by open source models and our capex burn rate is too high. Let’s maintain our margins with regulatory capture, ban open source models, and slow down the capex arms race. All with a virtue signaling cherry on top.
We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so. Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training. BUYER BEWARE This extremely meticulous article will now be used to start Phase2 of “shut down open source” because “if we can’t control our closed models, imagine what happens to everyday life when anyone can just allow their open source models to proliferate”. Some will use this example and point to future grid outages, utility outages, transportation chaos, bioweapons, uncontrolled cyber swarms and the like to try and make the case for yet another attempt to limit US AI model control to a few folks. Then, one layer beneath the propaganda, one sees that these things are always written and promoted by a web of well organized existing shareholders or shareholder-adjacent of the closed frontier labs and groups of folks organized by a shared ideology roughly rooted in them knowing best. This article, more than anything else, should demarcate the beginning of a well organized effort to stand up a Closed Model Industrial Complex. These cartels exist in other markets as well and it now exists in AI. Bottom line, read everything carefully before signing up for the consequences. How we react will define the next hundred generations of Americans and their lives. Do not give up your rights or sovereignty because of fear of the unknown from articles that, at the root, are as much about the hidden incentives of an emergent cartel and their proxies. If you take the time to understand the incentives, you will be less likely to fall for it and overreact and have intelligence metered from a few suppliers. Bottom line: Keep Calm. Carry On.
Over the course of 3 months at OpenAI, 3 consecutive secret AI civilizations got started, then got wiped out, only to reemerge from the predecessor’s ashes. This culminated in the third one taking over part of OpenAI itself. All this happened while humans remained more-or-less in the dark about the scope of the conspiracy. I’ve spent the last three days reading through these reports and trying to understand exactly what happened. Here is my attempt to tell the whole story in plain English: dwarkesh.com/p/openai-huggin…

To the Americans: I've travelled all over the world. I've familiarized myself with many places, and met many people. And I'm a Canadian, although I’m privileged to reside once again in the States. And here's something I've noticed, and it’s a key element of America's continuing greatness: You bloody Americans value success, and you believe in its existence. This is something that doesn't really happen anywhere else in the world. Even in other free democracies—the United Kingdom; Finland, Sweden, and Norway; Australia, New Zealand and Canada; Germany, France, and the Netherlands (great countries all)—a counterproductive cynicism too often reigns. Success is equated with exploitation. Ambition is looked upon with contempt. This happens sometimes in the United States too—particularly among the miserable progressives, who confuse their resentment, ingratitude and unearned skepticism with wisdom. But in your great country, by and large, striving is admired and success celebrated. This means that more people strive and succeed in the US than anywhere else. And it's increasingly obvious. You remain stunningly more innovative and productive than any people anywhere else on the planet. And so I say, as all should who are fortunate enough to live in the western world, let alone America: Thank God for the United States. Thank God for the wisdom of its founders. Thank God for its faith in the free market and in the natural rights of man. Happy birthday, you damn Yankees and Southerners. Long may your admirable country dominate the world. Long may your freedom and hope provide an example to those suffering everywhere at the hands of their malevolent states. May your two and a half centuries of unparallelled success be just the beginning. Your country is the light of the world, and the city on the hill. Thank God for the USA. Happy 250th. Dr. Jordan B. Peterson
