Another supply chain headache - time to fulfill pediatric attenuated defibrillator pad order directly from major defibrillator manufacturer - 35 WEEKS
I kind of want to look at the photo album of the conference attendees who take photos of every single PowerPoint slide and see if they somehow organize everything
Challenges to beating sudden cardiac arrest - a perspective on the AED shortage and supply chain - one major manufacturer has a lead time of 90 to 270 (!!!) days before defibrillators are arriving to customers.
Congrats to @AviveSolutions for successfully achieving premarket approval of their new AED. A huge milestone that will enhance public access defibrillation ❤️ ⚡️
Do the @ResusWorkout at your next gym session to refresh #HandsOnlyCPR - 200 compressions in 2 minutes on a slam ball #handsonlycpr #CPR ❤️💪♥️🚨
After attending @ResuscAcademy , my followup project was to try to get gyms/trainers to do a CPR “workout station” to practice compressions as part of your gym routine - the result was @ResusWorkout m.youtube.com/watch?v=eeyV4-…
5/ Smaller, cheaper and more connected is the new standard that the next generation of AEDs are being designed for thanks to the cutting edge work of companies like @AviveSolutions and @HeartHeroAED
4/ It will require innovation from young disruptive companies like @AviveSolutions and @HeartHeroAED to finally bring the cost of AEDs down so that bystander defibrillation is the norm, not the exception
3/ Back in 2000, we could purchase AEDs for less than $1000, but with cost inflation no brand new AED on the market today is cheaper than around $1300 which makes it difficult to deploy widely
2/ Our health system is in the process of replacing more than two dozen AEDs on campus and it will take NINE months to get the vendor to fulfill the order
1/ While I am very pleased that many people are pushing for more public access defibrillators, we face a supply shortage of them currently - m sca-aware.org/sca-news/short…
I kind of hope our hospital is haunted with fun ghosts. Like the type of ghost that think it’s amusing to stick electrodes to the nurse’s shoes so they sound like tap dancing shoes
Emergency medicine in a nutshell-
We had an EMS crew call to see if we would take a patient with bedbugs.
Guys.
We have a bedbug hanging out in the corner, his name is Tim, he really lonely and need more friends.
C’mon over!
Today, I let our local PSAP know that a cardiac arrest patient they dispatched survived asystolic cardiac arrest neuro intact. I know T-CPR instructions were given because I was first on scene and could hear the telecommunicator on speakerphone 💪 ❤️
If you’re trying to buy an AED, there is a good chance you might find them backordered - which is now reflected in the FDA’s medical device shortage list
