I’ve decided I’m not going anywhere. We need to elect Republicans everywhere this November & defeat democrats. I need your help. Will you reach out to every single Republican you know & ensure they vote by Tuesday, November 3rd? I will keep going, but I need you as reinforcements.

The guy in charge of the ballots in Champaign County, Illinois is under federal indictment. He's also on the ballot. Clerk Aaron Ammons is charged with obstruction for allegedly helping cover for his wife, a Democrat state rep facing eight counts of wire fraud. He asked to push his own federal trial to December so he could run this election, and he got it. So how's that going? His office mailed more than 600 ballots with the wrong state House races on them. Early voting got shut down, and a lot of voters found out when they showed up. 28 people already voted on bad ballots, and those votes can't be fixed. One of the races they botched is a seat the Republican won by 269 votes last time. His wife's district got scrambled too. This is the same office that blamed a "cyberattack" in 2022, had an outage on Election Day 2024, and printed a GOP candidate's name as "Tad." Congress gave him until Friday to explain himself. Republicans asked Illinois AG Kwame Raoul to step in, and his office wouldn't even comment. If an indicted Republican clerk pulled this three weeks before an election, it would be on every network for a week. Instead it's crickets. capitolnewsillinois.com/news…

The God Thoth. Thoth was worshipped as the god of wisdom, but also as the moon god. Here, as a baboon, he holds the left so-called Udjat eye in his hands, which symbolizes the moon. As an Ibis he holds the right Udjat eye symbolizes the solar god. From the beginning of Egyptian history, the baboon had a role in Egyptian religion. Initially, he was known as a deity called the "Great White One" (that is, the moon), but soon this god was conflated with Thoth, the better known ibis-headed god of writing and recording. Thoth's responsibilities included the calendar, which in ancient Egypt was lunar based, facilitating the integration of the two deities. Baboon amulets probably were offerings to shrines honoring Thoth, but could also have been placed with the deceased as a representative of the deity who recorded Osiris' judgment. via Jacqueline Engel #MythologyMonday #AncientEgypt #Moonday

Obama: It's a "basic principe of democracy" to not prosecute the other party 🤡
🤖 Made with AI
It is a basic principle of American democracy that the government can’t selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say. But that’s exactly what the Trump Administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota. To understand why this is so appalling, it’s important to know the facts. Congresswoman Omar came to this country with her father when she was 12 years old. Five years later, her father became a naturalized citizen. If Ilhan had been 18 at the time, she would have had to apply for citizenship separately. But because she was 17, she became a naturalized citizen automatically. Congresswoman Omar went on to graduate from college, work as a community organizer, become the first Somali-American legislator elected to public office in the U.S., and win a seat in Congress. There, she has been one of the Trump Administration’s fiercest critics, which has led the president to repeatedly single her out as someone who he believes does not belong in this country. Now the Administration is actively trying to deport Congresswoman Omar, seemingly based solely on the unsubstantiated theory that she was actually 18 when her father was naturalized, and therefore is not a citizen. Federal agents have raided her home, confiscated personal records, and seized her phone — all to try and uncover a nonexistent smoking gun from 20 years ago that will somehow make their case. Think about that. The full weight of the federal government is being brought down on a law-abiding elected official because she has dared to criticize the president. And it’s not the first time this has happened. Under President Trump, the Justice Department has repeatedly gone after those he considers his political enemies — from the Attorney General of New York, to the former head of the FBI, to members of the Federal Reserve. In those cases, the prosecutions either stalled or were dismissed for having no basis in law, and the same is likely to happen in this case. But not before Congresswoman Omar’s life has been turned upside down, her legal bills have piled up, and she’s been forced to spend time fighting unsubstantiated charges instead of serving the people of Minnesota. The fact that any president, or any administration, is willing to engage in such transparent efforts to intimidate someone should outrage all Americans, regardless of how they feel about Congresswoman Omar’s political views. Because if this becomes the new normal, there’s no reason to believe it will stop with her — or that future presidents, in either party, won’t do the same.

Ada Blackjack (1898-1983) was an Iñupiaq woman who became the sole survivor of a doomed 1921–1923 Arctic expedition to the uninhabited Wrangel Island... Born in Spruce Creek, Alaska (near Nome), Ada lost her father at age eight and was raised in a Methodist mission school where she learned to read English and sew, though she did not learn traditional outdoor hunting skills. At age 16, she married Jack Blackjack, an abusive dog musher. After he abandoned her and their only surviving son, Bennett, she walked 40 miles to Nome. Because Bennett suffered from tuberculosis and Ada could not afford his medical care, she had to temporarily place him in an orphanage. . . . Ada Blackjack, an Inupiat woman whose incredible survival story unfolded on Wrangel Island in the Arctic Circle. In 1921, she joined a private, ill-fated expedition financed to claim the remote island for Canada. Needing money to pay for medical care for her young son, she signed on as a seamstress and cook for a team consisting of four men, a sled dog team, and a cat named Victoria. However, the expedition's sponsor failed to send a supply ship after the first year, leaving the group stranded as food supplies dwindled severely. In early 1923, desperate to find help, three of the men attempted to walk across the frozen sea ice to Siberia and were never seen again. This left Ada behind at the camp caring for the final remaining crew member, Lorne Knight, who was bedridden and dying of scurvy. For months, Ada acted as a nurse, hunter, and provider, learning to trap Arctic foxes and shoot game, while enduring harsh weather and Knight's mounting delirium and frustration. Following Knight's death in late June, she remained entirely alone on the island with only the cat for company. On August 19, 1923, a rescue ship finally reached Wrangel Island, discovering Ada and Victoria [safely sheltered together]. Despite facing immense trauma, isolation, and later unfair public scrutiny, she was eventually reunited with her son. Her harrowing account remains one of the most remarkable stories of Arctic resilience, immortalized in historical records and detailed in resources such as the Dartmouth Library Digital Collections. During her harrowing months alone on Wrangel Island, Ada Blackjack taught herself how to hunt seals and trap Arctic foxes to survive, and she even built a crude but effective raised platform using driftwood and seal skins to safely store her meat and protect it from scavenging polar bears and arctic foxes. #archaeohistories
