It’s with a heavy heart that I’m sharing the Ditka family has announced the passing of Mike Ditka this morning.
Da Coach. Hall of Famer. The heartbeat of the ’85 Bears and a Super Bowl champion. Chicago won’t be the same.
Prayers to Diana and the family.
RIP, Coach. 🐻⬇️
Here’s a statement from the family:
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Mike Ditka. While the world knew Mike as a Hall of Fame football player, legendary coach, and leader of the Chicago Bears’ Super Bowl XX championship team, we knew him as the heart of our family. Mike will be missed beyond measure and remembered forever.
With love and gratitude, The Ditka Family

The two-time defending-Super Bowl champion Dolphins defeat the Jets on Monday Night Football at the Orange Bowl, 21-17.
After Miami forges a late 11-point lead, Joe Namath hits Rich Caster for an 89-yard touchdown — the NFL's longest offensive play in 1974.
But Dolphins safety Jake Scott's last-minute interception thwarts New York's late comeback attempt.

THIS is how coaches succeed at the pro level. It's not about having some super/fancy scheme that catches people off guard. It's about attacking personnel in the moment. In a microsm, it's why a good QB immediately takes advantage of an injury replacement in the secondary.
Jon Gruden reveals Al Davis would walk into his office, draw the punt protection and quiz him on the Chargers' third corner, and says if he didn't have the answers Davis was like a freaking Doberman
"With fear. He scared the hell out of me a lot of the times, but you know, he taught me about reading, writing, and arithmetic. He says every day you can't just talk about your offense. You got to talk about our defensive line play, our fourth quarter pass rush. You got to know personnel."
"He would ask you, Who's the third corner for the Chargers? And you better know who it is. You better learn how to attack personnel on the other team, not just using your schemes."
"But he's the only guy that I ever met that could walk into your office and draw the punt protection and ask you what the calls were."
"He really challenged me to think outside the box and learn things that I didn't really have to learn or think about learning before. And if I didn't know the answers, he was like a freaking Doberman, man."

I asked very little of this team before the season started. Play tough and play the young guys plenty.
Every week, Hafley and his guys continue to stay competitive, as ugly as it may look at times. Our rookies are looking like home run contributors. Players that were starting to look like busts last season are seemingly beginning to blossom with the change of scenery.
Don’t get me wrong, there are numerous plays and mistakes each game that show exactly why this team is vying for the first overall pick in the draft. However, these guys are playing with more heart than ANY of the talent-laden teams we watched under the previous regime.
Call me crazy, but we’re building something here in South Florida.
Get better every week. 💪🏻😤

Not just QBs...

From 1980-2000 QB games missed due to injury are roughly 3.5 times less than the period 2000-2025
Pads have all but disappeared. Whether they are the answer or not, when they existed we had much fewer major QB injuries.
Now they dont, & rules changes have not helped at all.
So..
Getting rid of allowing offensive players to assist forward progress of tune ball carrier.
Getting rid of all but maybe 5 overseas games.
Allow a scrambling QB to be treated like a runner.
Narrow the goal posts.

Flipper's Return
After a ten-year hiatus, the Miami Dolphins mascot "Flipper" returns to the Orange Bowl.
Kept in a pool located behind the east end zone, Flipper would playfully jump and bat footballs that landed in the pool after kicks.

The New England Patriots are tied with the Miami Dolphins for the LEAST points scored in the NFL so far this season (36)
Does Tony Pauline actually talk to these players? How? He's not in Miami. Who are these "several players" and "multiple sources" that he refers to? Or.... is he just making shit up to get clicks, because bad teams *must* have internal issues, right?
🚨 Multiple Miami Dolphins players have reportedly expressed frustration with Miami’s defensive scheme, believing the defense’s struggles are partly self-inflicted, with the players reportedly feeling:
➖ The current zone-heavy scheme doesn’t fit the talent on the roster
➖ More man-to-man coverage should be used as players feels it better suits personnel. Players believe a switch to more man coverage could help compensate for the lack of pass rush and lower opponents’ completion percentage
➖ Youth in the secondary has led to confusion with defensive signals, missed assignments and players being out of position

This dude was a super duper weapon at WR for Dan Marino. His blazing 4.3 speed made him a lethal deep threat and he finished his career with an impressive 17.4 yds per reception.
