EIA and our Congolese and international partners have repeatedly raised concerns about pollution impacting the community of Manomapia. Now, the world's largest cobalt producer is telling the community to prepare to leave. Communities deserve a healthy environment.

3 belugas were found dead in Cook Inlet. Every death matters for this critically endangered population. Necropsies & research need sustained federal support so we can better assess beluga whale health & understand why they are struggling to recover. ow.ly/h8Rw50ZV7G6
EIA applauds Dutch authoritiesâ seizure of 375+ tonnes of suspected illegal azobĂ© timber from Gabon. With new EUDR rules from Dec. 30, Gabon must roll out the SNTBG timber traceability system, developed with EIAâs support, to track timber to its origin.ow.ly/IKe750ZRCrr
New research confirms what EIA and PremiCongo documented in our Toxic Transition investigation: @resourmatters & Mazingira Pour Tous found SOâ levels up to 3.7X the WHO threshold at TFMâs 30K plant, alongside respiratory & eye symptoms in Manomapia, DRC. tinyurl.com/4e88rrwp

This #WorldOzoneDay, we celebrate nearly 40 years of the Montreal Protocol and 10 years of its Kigali Amendment, showing how sustained global cooperation can protect the ozone layer and the climate, but requires continued vigilance and action to prevent the related illegal trade.
Strong enforcement against illegal trade and harmful emissions is essential to safeguard the ozone layerâs recovery and deliver the climate benefits of the Kigali Amendment.
Today we are celebrating the incredible wildlife that makes our planet so extraordinary.
Today and every day, EIA works to protect elephants, rhinos, and Cook Inlet belugas.

5 years. 4 investigations. 1 landmark Constitutional Court ruling. 1 new unprecedented law. Watch how EIA and @Dejusticiaâs joint work on Colombia's cattle supply chains became Colombia's first mandatory deforestation-free cattle traceability law.

EIA has been working with Code4Nature and our Liberian civil society partners LICSATDUN, CS-IFM, and MFGAP to develop and implement a transparent traceability system to track chainsaw milled timber from community forests to domestic markets in the nationâs capital, Monrovia.
This work shows how a simple mobile app can bring effective transparency and traceability, even in remote environments. Systems like these are an essential step towards bringing inclusive forest governance to empower local communities to manage their precious forest resources.
Many thanks to the UK government and EFI for their ongoing support for this important work! Learn more about this exciting project here: interactive.eia.org/tracing-âŠ
#DYK that EIA investigative insights contributed to the 1989 ban on international ivory trade? While the world has made great strides to protect elephants since then, domestic ivory markets continue to fuel poaching by keeping demand for their tusks alive.
This #WorldElephantDay, learn more about our efforts to push Japan - the world's last remaining major domestic ivory market - to finally join the rest of the world in protecting elephants by shutting down the trade: stopjapanivorytrade.org/
