I’ve just done a quick calculation and the total ground area of our hedgerow is over 5.5 acres, and because we don’t flail most of them, the canopy cover will be at least double that.
A valuable, important habitat for mammals, birds, invertebrates, mosses, lichens & wildflowers.
Our small 300ac family farm has..
6.5 miles of hedgerow
4.5 mile drystone wall
2.5 mile beck
13 acre ancient hay meadow
2 ac pond
10 ac ancient oak woodland
4 ac species rich moss
