If Jewish Israelis truly invited Palestinians to join their democratic struggle—and made it a struggle for freedom for everyone, not just for Jews--that movement wouldn't just defeat Bibi. It would defeat apartheid and change the world peterbeinart.substack.com/p/…

In states with vouchers, 75-80% are used by kids already in private schools. If Texas adopts vouchers, $3 billion will be transferred from public schools to private schools. The 5 million kids in public schools will be cheated.

Children are not “scholars,” they are students. Might as well call them “Doctors” or “Professors.” A scholar spends years of study to earn that title. No child is a scholar. Pretentious verbiage.

.@NYCSpeakerAdams calls @NYCMayor’s preliminary budget “unacceptable and not in the best interest of New York City.” “This Council cannot and will not support this counterproductive approach,” she says, citing cuts to CUNY, libraries, childhood education and social services.

Genteee. O que isto? Pegaram pesado! Protesto silencioso na 23rd Street, em Manhattan, contra a presença de bolsonaristas ilustres na Flórida. É justamente na rua onde estão alguns dos mais famosos hotéis de Nova York.

After the #DamarHamlin incident, the conversation around CPR training and AED access is important. But we can't sidestep some hard truths. America is addicted to this violent and brutal game. And the @NFL has repeatedly shown that does not care about Black players' health.

Schools… libraries… health care. Where and when will it end?
NYC mayor Eric Adams is demanding city libraries to cut their budgets by $13.6 million by the end of fiscal year 2023, and another $20.5 million over the next 3 fiscal years. This will be devastating for the services and operations of the library system. jacobin.com/2022/12/eric-ada…

We need to talk about how @NYCMayor betrayed his fellow Democrats this cycle. There's a pattern of behavior that shows he has no place in any kind of party leadership. 🧵
