Suggestion no one thinks is cool: QBs should have to raise a hand above their head (like a fair catch)...and the play is over as soon as their hand starts to raise. We wouldn't have to guess where they started the slide and they wouldn't go low and get their heads knocked off. They'll still get hit every now and then, but at least they'll be able to defend themselves a bit.
