Fox: Why are you here this morning?
Trump rally attendee: Well, in the late 70s, I was a little too young to go to South America for the Jonestown Massacre. But this is as close as I'll ever get, so that's why I'm here. There's nothing like seeing a cult right up front.

For context on the air conditioning debate between the US and Europe...one must consult the ancient texts:
1. Anything that is in the world when you're born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works.
2. Anything that's invented between when you're 15 and 35 is new and exciting and revolutionary, and you can probably get a career in it.
3. Anything invented after you're 35 is against the natural order of things.

Given Trump’s Easter threats to carry out new war crimes in Iran, we should think one or two steps ahead about a coup attempt connected to the war. And then deter it. (1/17)

Remember when we learned that our wealthiest and most powerful people were connected to a guy who ran a literal child sex trafficking ring? And then that guy died mysteriously in a jail? And now we just don't talk about it.

For 30+ years conservatives told me they stood ready to oppose anyone who would endanger the Constitution. We will soon see whether they meant that or if there was an asterisk next to it that clarified: "only if that person is from a side of the political spectrum I don't like".

"Judicial Tyranny" is a ridiculous phrase.Every judge below SCOTUS has a superior court that can be appealed to. You can't be a tyrant if you have a boss. AND if SCOTUS says something isn't Constitutional, that's not "tyranny",that's the Constitutional Republic acting as it should

I wonder how many Americans who consider themselves politically aware could pass a civics test about how our government is supposed to function. I wonder how many Americans who ostensibly talk about politics as part of how they make a living could. Our anti-education/anti-knowledge culture has come for our constitutional society. And people who consider themselves "patriotic" celebrate dismantling the very aspects of our Framer's work that those exquisite-minded guys were most proud of. Co-equal branches of govt and checks and balances. Not bugs...but this system's greatest features. We are a politically hypocritical society and this will cost us. Can you imagine if the Biden/Harris/Hillary Clinton crowd were doing and saying the sort of things Trump is saying now? How many of you Trump fans would be ready to take to the streets? "That's what the 2d Amendment is for Dan"...how many times have I been told that by the "defenders of our Constitution"? For 40 years you've been saying it to me! So...it's only a problem if THEY'RE doing it? One side gets a pass at assaulting the constitutional wall that protects us all, and the other doesn't? How many of you would say "they're only joking" or "don't worry, it's a negotiation position" if Kamala Harris said these things? Serious question. You'd be just fine with it? No big deal? And I'm sure the right-wing talker's ecosystem would be too? All of this is going to come back to bite us. All of it. We are shortsighted, propagandized, political hypocrites. And we simply refuse to apply the same standards to both sides.
And while I'm ranting: half of this problem is the fault of the Democratic Party. I've never seen such a toothless, feckless, directionless, passion-free group of poor political candidates in my life (and I was of voting age in the Mondale/Dukakis years). Only their most radical wing shows any passion or life at all...and that's the group that absolutely, positively can't win a general election.
When the great historian in the sky writes about this era the "other party" in a two-party system deserves a ton of the blame too. Everyone over 70 years old in that party should resign right now. What Trump is trying to do in our system now is exactly what the Founders designed safeguards to prevent. And that's why Trump is targeting the safeguards.

Ethel Cain doubles down on her controversial Instagram post in which she sided with Luigi Mangione:
“the men in charge better hope they can keep their digital smokescreens running as long as they can because the moment the rednecks and the hippies lay down their swords long enough to realize they have the same enemy, all hell is gonna break loose.”

Why don't politicians ever talk abt zoning reform? American urban design is a health hazard imo. This would immediately open up a lot of real estate that otherwise the dems are talking abt having to spend taxpayer money building to reduce scarcity/ costs.
but Also the best city I ever lived in by far was Montreal cuz u can just live on top of shops I used to have my am coffee on the deck and say hi to like 10 friends walking past my balcony b4 I ever even left my house.
Living in a commercial area means u can walk to get everything u need. Better for environment. Everyone less isolated. The mental health benefits r palpable. I see a lot of valid lamenting of the loss of "third places" (social gathering points like bars, churches etc) . reducing zoning regulation makes the neighbourhood feel like a third place.
A lot cheaper than having to subsidize tons of housing and with added community benefits. I've def been to a lot of cities with commercial areas and office buildings just completely half empty. How is sf real estate so expensive when all the commercial spaces r ghost towns?
This seems like a solution dems and republicans can agree on that could be implemented extremely easily? Correct me if I'm missing smthn?
