The purpose of separating your upper body from your lower body in the backswing (X-Factor) is to set up a more powerful contraction of the oblique abdominals. The reason for creating the separation is to close it.
PGA TOUR average X-Factor is about 45°. Dylan Menante was just over 60°. While he creates the stretch, 3D data showed he wasn't using it for speed.
Not only are his velocities lower than PGA TOUR average, at impact his trunk is only 18° open, versus 35° on TOUR.
To get more rotational velocity out of his core, he doesn't need more separation. He needs to use the separation he has.
