This put a lump in my throat.
Just thinking about tomorrow. This is from twenty years ago, “I Just Called To Say I Love You,”wsj.com/articles/SB115774704… via @WSJ
The future is not reading code. That's why we're all developing agent skills and harnesses and custom tooling, right?
I've gleefully watched Steven's kayak excursions into the river many times. His advocacy for restoring the LA River is an admirable legacy. RIP.

The victim of the deadly ICE shooting in Maine has been identified as 26-year-old Joan Sebastian Guerrero, the father of a 3-year-old girl.
Guerrero was authorized to work in the United States, had been issued a Social Security Number, and was not the intended target of ICE operations.
Stinky precedent that's been set 🦨
"As part of our ongoing engagement with the U.S. government, we previewed our plans and the models’ capabilities ahead of today’s launch. At their request, we are starting with a limited preview for a small group of trusted partners whose participation has been shared with the government, before releasing more broadly."

5 shops on York Blvd were bought by an equity firm, denied lease renewals, and are being evicted with a 60-day notice. Only 1 found a new location nearby. With rents possibly hitting $10k, these mom-and-pop shops may soon be a memory on York and HLP.
Not much of a podcast guy but this was really great. Rick Rubin would make a good spirit animal

The problem I see with a lot of DTC brands is they've got no soul. They start with a biz model and work their way backwards to the product and UX. The copy on the website is there solely to validate the biz model. The founders just move on to the next if they can't get the equation to work
In 2015 I built Shoppy Bot with the goal of giving retail/ecommerce operators a natural language interface to their business data. 10+ years later and I'm back building the same thing. And i gotta say it feels prettty good. It really works now.
It's like playing a video game you love, but now you have a cheat code. For a while you're smashing through levels in pure bliss. And then you get bored.
