IBM’S CEO SAYS QUANTUM WILL BE WORTH A TRILLION DOLLARS BY THE END OF THE 2030S Arvind Krishna isn’t hedging anymore. On CNBC this summer he said quantum will have β€œa measurable impact on our top line and bottom line” by 2028 or 2029. Then he went further, β€œBy the end of the 2030s, we are now pretty convinced this is a trillion dollars of value.” This isn't some startup CEO pitching investors. That’s a 115 year old company that sells to banks and governments. And IBM is spending like it means it, more than $10 billion on quantum over five years. A target of a large scale, error-corrected quantum computer by 2029. A new quantum chip foundry called Anderon, backed by $1 billion from the Commerce Department and $1 billion from IBM. Meanwhile it just bought HRL Laboratories from Boeing and GM, the lab that put a quantum computer’s control electronics inside the freezer. The trillion dollar figure is value across the whole industry, not IBM’s revenue. But the date is what matters. Two years ago, β€œcommercial quantum” was always 10 years away. Now the CEO of IBM is putting it on his own income statement within three years. IBM reports earnings tonight. Watch what he says about quantum. $IBM $INFQ $IONQ
YOU CAN NOW BUY EVERY QUANTUM STOCK CHEAPER THAN THE US GOVERNMENT DID In May, the Commerce Department signed letters of intent to invest up to $2 billion in 9 quantum companies in exchange for stock. In September, the first deals were finalized. The government didn’t pay market price. It got a 15% discount off the lowest closing price on key deal dates. Even with that discount, three of them now trade below what Washington paid. $QBTS: signed Sep 4, 2026. Government paid $14.09 a share. Today $11.82, about 16% lower. $QNT: signed Sep 4, 2026. Government paid about $42.20 a share. Today $35.25, about 17% lower. $RGTI: signed Sep 4, 2026. Government paid about $12.92 a share. Today $11.71, about 9% lower. $INFQ: still not signed. Its letter prices the stake at a 15% discount to the closing price on the day the letter was signed or the day the final deal is signed, whichever is lower. The letter was signed around May 20, when it closed at $11.18. That caps the government’s price at about $9.50. Monday close: $8.84. If the final deal gets signed at today’s prices, Washington’s price drops with it. $GFS is the exception. Government price: $37.85. It now trades around $48. The government also invested in multiple private companies including Quera (still not signed) Atom Computing and Diraq, seems as if they are treating this like a venture investment across the whole industry and modalities.

GPT-Rosalind surfaced a new lead for drug discovery: could restoring cholesterol transport protect neurons from degeneration? DCTN1 is a gene linked to Perry syndrome, a rare neurodegenerative disorder. In mouse-brain data, disrupting it increased expression of genes involved in making cholesterol. GPT-Rosalind suggested a possible explanation: cholesterol may not be reaching where neurons need it. That gives scientists a specific mechanism to test and, if confirmed, a direction for developing new treatments for neurodegenerative disorders. With @perturbai_tx and @scrippsresearch, a team of thousands of GPT-Rosalind agents worked in parallel, connecting gene-expression results from millions of mouse brain cells with scientific literature in just 32 minutes. We’re now expanding this collaboration to identify new drug targets. openai.com/index/scaling-ai-…

🚨 QUANTUM COMPUTING MAY BE LEAVING THE FREEZER Quantum technology usually needs extremely cold temperatures to work. But researchers have created a tiny gold-and-glass quantum chip that can operate at room temperature. The breakthrough could help make future quantum devices smaller, simpler, and easier to build. But it’s important to note: this is not yet a full room-temperature quantum computer. Could quantum technology one day sit on your desk? Source: You, C., et al. (2026). βš›οΈ The Quantum World Has No Respect for Distance Quantum entangled particles can remain strongly connected even when separated by enormous distances. Their measurements show correlations that seem to defy our everyday understanding of space and time. The strange part? **This does not let information travel faster than light.** Instead, entanglement reveals that nature works in ways far beyond ordinary intuition. The deeper we explore quantum physics, the stranger reality becomes.

🧠 Scientists Replaced More Than 85% of Brain Immune Cells in Mice, Offering New Hope for Brain Diseases. What if damaged brain cells could be replaced by healthy ones? Scientists at Stanford Medicine are exploring a remarkable approach involving microglia, the brain’s immune cells that help clear waste and protect nerve cells. In experiments involving mice with a fatal genetic brain disease, researchers introduced healthy precursor cells that developed into microglia. These cells helped deliver missing enzymes to neighboring brain cells, reduced brain damage, and improved movement and survival. The results are promising, but there is an important catch: this treatment remains experimental. It has not been proven to cure these diseases in humans. Could replacing the brain’s own immune cells become a future treatment for devastating neurological disorders? Scientists are working to find out. Source: Shibuya, Y., et al. A QUANTUM COMPUTER JUST BEAT GOOGLE’S ERROR RECORD BY 100X $QNT (Quantinuum), reported this morning that its Helios machine hit 99.9995% logical fidelity. In plain terms, a protected qubit now makes about five errors per million operations. A month ago the same hardware held the record at roughly fifty. A quantum computer is useless until its errors are rare enough to correct faster than they appear. Every roadmap to a useful machine is really a roadmap to that error rate. Quantinuum says it’s now inside the range its 2029 fault tolerant machine Apollo, was designed around. They compared it to about 100 times fewer errors than the best published result on Google’s superconducting chips. Trapped ions are slower than superconductors, but each operation is far cleaner, and today that gap got wider. The new code uses up to 37 physical qubits to make one good logical qubit, up from 10 in September. Better qubits, bought with more of them. The number comes from a company release, not yet a peer-reviewed paper. A Sandia physicist not involved in the work said it could mean useful fault tolerance at under a million physical qubits. Google cut magic state errors 40x last Wednesday. Quantinuum cut logical errors 10x today. The physics is moving faster than the stocks. $QNT $IONQ $INFQ $GOOGL
GOOGLE IS ONE STEP CLOSER TO A FAULT TOLERANT QUANTUM COMPUTER Every useful quantum computer needs a supply of something called magic states. They’re the ingredient that lets a machine run real algorithms instead of simple ones, they can’t be reused, and making them is so expensive that some estimates say 95% of a future quantum computer’s capacity would go to manufacturing them. That’s been the quiet bottleneck behind every roadmap in the industry. Today Google published a paper in Science showing a new way to make them on its Willow chip. Instead of building a magic state from scratch at huge cost, you start with a rough one, grow it inside a small protected patch of the chip, measure it over and over, throw away every attempt that shows an error, and keep the survivors. They call it cultivation. The numbers were a 40-fold cut in errors versus the raw state, and the highest-fidelity magic state ever produced on hardware, 99.99%. They also showed the grown state can be transplanted from one type of error correcting code into another, which is the plumbing a real machine needs. Google’s own caveat is that it has to work at much larger scale before it counts for practical computing. Fair, but the bottleneck everyone assumed would be the expensive part just got a lot cheaper, on a chip that exists. $INFQ $IONQ $QNT $GOOGL
