Europe Simulator is coming to NYC this summer!
New York: it's hot out there, and the power grid is working overtime to keep us cool.
Set your AC to 78 degrees, turn off lights/electronics you're not using, and unplug what you can.
Our City is doing its part too: maintaining the 78 degrees rule in our buildings, dimming/turning off our lights during peak electricity demand, asking private partners to do the same, and powering down non-essential equipment.
A stable grid means the AC stays on, and lives are saved. Let's ease demand — and get through the heat — together.

BREAKING: 300+ Google & OpenAI employees just did something WILD.
In 8 hours, the Pentagon's ultimatum expires.
Instead of their companies giving in, employees just made it impossible to comply.
Either Anthropic removes all AI safeguards for military use, or face the Defense Production Act.
Mass surveillance of Americans. Autonomous weapons with zero human oversight. Everything on the table.
While Elon's xAI already signed unlimited access deal.
Dario Amodei, Anthropic's CEO, refused yesterday.
Here's what the Pentagon didn't expect.
Instead of Google and OpenAI staying quiet and cutting separate deals, 300+ employees signed a public letter.
The title: "We Will Not Be Divided."
236 from Google. 65 from OpenAI. All current employees.
All putting their jobs on the line.
The letter exposes the Pentagon's strategy:
"They're trying to divide each company with fear that the other will give in. That strategy only works if none of us know where the others stand."
Classic divide and conquer.
But the employees just called it out. Publicly.
This exact thing happened before.
2018: Google employees protested Project Maven (AI for drone targeting).
Result: Google pulled out. Promised not to use AI in weaponry.
2026: Those same policies are being rolled back.
The difference: This time employees at COMPETING companies are coordinating.
Anthropic, Google, OpenAI. Usually fighting for talent and market share.
Now fighting the same battle.
US military falling behind because ethical companies refuse.
Here's what most people miss:
This isn't about AI ethics.
This is about whether private companies can have red lines at all.
If the Pentagon wins, every tech company knows:
Build anything for the government & they own it.
If Anthropic wins, it proves you can say no to the most powerful military on Earth.
Both outcomes reshape the entire industry.
HOLY SH*T
DARIO WENT PUBLIC
Anthropic just told the Pentagon “no.”
The Department of War demanded unrestricted access to Claude for mass domestic surveillance and fully autonomous weapons.
Anthropic refused.
Even though it could cost them their biggest government contract.
Here’s what Dario said publicly:
“We cannot in good conscience accede to their request.”
The Pentagon is now threatening to either:
→ Remove Claude from all military systems
→ Label Anthropic a “supply chain risk” (a designation reserved for adversaries like China)
Wild part?
They’re also threatening to invoke the Defense Production Act, which implies Claude is ESSENTIAL to national security.
So which is it?
Security risk or critical infrastructure?
Anthropic was the FIRST AI company to deploy in classified US networks. Claude runs intelligence analysis, cyber ops, and operational planning across the DoW.
They also cut off $100M+ in revenue by blocking CCP-linked firms.
But two lines they won’t cross:
1.Mass AI-driven surveillance of Americans
2.Fully autonomous weapons (current AI isn’t reliable enough)
This is the first public AI company vs.
Pentagon showdown.

This image provokes deep visceral rage in every father who sees it. I can’t even fully articulate it. It’s primal. We want scalps. We want heads on pikes.

I want to set the record straight on tariffs and my POV.
Yes, I am currently a part of the laptop class.
Yes, my retirement savings have been brutalized in recent days.
Yes, I'm very near retirement age.
Yet I have not lost sight of my working class roots.
Further, like everyone else, pro and con, I do not know with certainty what the outcome will be of the Trump Tariffs.
Unlike many, I am willing to give Donald Trump the benefit of the doubt and support his actions, until he proves my trust to be misplaced. He has yet to do that.
Finally, I am entirely sympathetic to fixing the scourge of unbalanced globalism because it's the right thing to do, even if it causes me personal pain.
I really wish more "conservatives" thought like me.

Chamath's Three Takeaways from Liberation Day 🇺🇸
1) Trump will go through with the tariffs, don't expect a grand capitulation
-- "Trump has had a 40-year view on tariffs."
-- "They're going to go through with this and they're going to see it through."
-- "I don't think you're going to see this grand capitulation."
2) The White House is okay with short-term volatility in the stock market
-- Remember Bessent's quotes on "Main Street over Wall Street" and re-ordering the international trading system
3) Bond yields are down, which will save us hundreds of billions this year
-- "We have $6T we need to finance in the next nine months."
-- "So the singular goal, in my opinion, of the White House, has been move the 10 year as aggressively and as quickly as possible."
-- As of yesterday... you were kissing 4%."
-- "If it had gone in the other direction, 30 or 40 basis points, and it touched 5%, you're talking about hundreds of billions of dollars of extra money that would not have been found, that would've had to be printed."
-- "Irrespective of what you think you know, or what you think you like about tariffs, we should all have a moment where we exhale because the long end of the curve is giving us a respite in a storm."

a wave of fury just swept over me as i remember i got fucking vaxxed—uuggghhh
i was never anti-vax, but as an adult, i never opted into optional vaccines
only flu shot i ever got was when i worked in hospitals—bc they forced me
i have never been sicker in my life than after that covid shot—down for 2 weeks, felt like i had actual covid
after that, i refused to get any more, but i’m still pissed i fell for it
one of my best friends (who i legit thought was liberal) begged me not to—she warned me about DNA mutation, side effects, long-term risks—i thought she sounded insane
turns out, she was right
by 2020, i was already 2 years out from leaving the left, but this sealed the deal
as a business owner, i watched my clients shut down and never bounce back, and it hit me: this isn’t just bad science, it’s bad capitalism
i’m not apologizing
i made the best decision i could with the info i had
but i was wrong, i saw the light, i corrected course, i voted for Trump after being a lifelong Dem and never-Trumper
i just hate that it took me so long
and i hate that i let them violate my body in the name of “trusting the science”
never, fucking, again

One side has Elon Musk launching rockets to Mars to secure humanity’s future. The other side is launching rockets to start WWIII and end it.
Ask yourself: Who’s the real enemy of the people?

This is a very bitter realisation for every #WordPress contributor, #WordCamp organiser, you name it, who have put their hearts and souls into this community. We have been holding WordPress.org as the centre of our activities. This is what WordPress was for us. Technically we were fooled.

When you choose hosts for WordPress like @kinsta, @RocketDotNet, and @wpengine, Cloudflare CDN is bundled in the plan. Cloudflare offers 270 PoPs, while WordPressdotcom’s 28 PoPs rely on WP Cloud. Kinsta & Rocketdotnet provide Cloudflare’s Enterprise version – not sure about WP Engine. Keep this (270 vs 28 POPs) in mind when choosing or switching hosts.

I'm still trying to figure out how 8.4% of your staff taking a short notice buyout offer to escape is getting spun as a good thing.
This guy definitely sniffs his own farts.
