Today is #WorldCougarDay! The largest extant feline, it ranges from Canada down to Patagonia, inhabiting a wide range of biomes. However, this generalist nature leads to conservation issues, being poorly studied in much of South America, and extirpated from Eastern North America.

I agree with a few of the comments here, that Edmontosaurus isn't as popular because its viewed as "boring" compared to crested hadrosaurs. Though ironically, Edmontosaurus has more bizarre integument compared to crested hadrosaurs. A brief 🧵
Genuinely shocked edmontosaurus is not more popular. Especially considering we have SEVERAL famous mummies. Yet stickers, keychains etc etc are hard to come by compared to other Hadrosaurs and dinos known with fossil skin.

Allosaurus jimmadseni es uno de mis dinosaurios favoritos. Recuerdo ver el especial de Caminando con Dinosaurios, dedicado al espécimen MOR693, llamado Big Al y fascinarme con la vida tan dura de los Allosaurus.

Result from the Florissant Formation #paleostream! While it doesn't look like this this has been one of the most intensely researched pieces of the whole series, but more on that later. On this a late summer evening a Megacerops steps onto a clearing to take a sip from a... 🧵

puddle, but two oreodonts are already here. The clearing is the product of a volcanic avalanche, a lahar, that ripped through this part of the forest. These hot mud slides are the reason for the biggest claim to fame of this formation: huge well preserved redwood tree-stumps.

This is a cool paper, but would it have been so hard to ask permission, or at least write "modified after Hartman" when they traced my Monolophosaurus skeletal?
