**ETHEKWINI EMERGENCY LINE TEMPORARILY OFFLINE**
EThekwini Municipality wishes to inform residents and stakeholders that the City’s emergency number 031 361 0000 is currently temporarily unavailable due to a network fault that has disrupted critical communication services.
As a result, residents may be unable to reach emergency teams through the usual channels.
City technicians are working swiftly to identify and resolve the fault.
All available resources have been deployed to restore full functionality as quickly as possible.
To provide constant emergency support, the Municipality has activated temporary alternative numbers while repairs continue.
Residents are urged to use the following numbers to report fire and emergency-related incidents until further notice: 076 223 2224 or 063 603 5775.
These temporary measures are in place to ensure residents can continue accessing essential Municipal services without disruption.
The Municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused and appeals for the public’s patience and cooperation during this period.
Regular updates will be provided through the Municipality’s official communication platforms.

Still no approval
Starlink has committed to a R500 million investment to connect 5,000 rural schools with free, high-speed internet, benefiting more than 2.4 million learners each year.
But it is still on hold.
Why? Because South African regulations require 30% local Black ownership for telecom licenses.
South African farmers and rural communities are asking the government to approve Starlink. In many remote areas, there is no internet access at all, and people have to drive several kilometers just to get basic connectivity.
The South African government is the enemy of its own people.
