The Independent Electoral & Boundaries Commission with a Special Gazette this evening. Guidelines regarding the election of the President: · An election of the President of the Republic of Kenya shall be held on Tuesday, 10th August, 2027 · Candidates intending to participate in the election as Independent Candidates shall not be members of any registered political party by Saturday, 8th May, 2027 being at least 3 months before the General Election · The Commission shall publish in the Gazette, the names and symbols of persons intending to contest in the election as independent candidates at least fourteen (14) days before the nomination day being on or before Friday, 14th May, 2027 · A public officer who intends to contest in the General Election shall resign from public office within six (6) months before the date of the election being on or before Wednesday, 10th February, 2027 · The campaign period for purposes of the 10th August, 2027 General Election shall commence on Saturday, 29th May, 2027 and cease on Saturday, 7th August, 2027 being 48 hours before the General Election Day · A person who directly or indirectly participates in any public fundraising or harambee within eight months preceding a General Election, that is, after 9th December 2026, shall be disqualified from contesting in the election
