Is there not some 3rd party company that can handle the cheating aspect here for smaller game dev studios that have games blow up big? Arc died largely due to the same issue, tiny company, huge playerbase, too many hackers/cheaters.
Once again, I feel really lucky. But I have to be honest;
We have been a bit overwhelmed with the response, and I mean it literally.. it feels like weβve spent our whole time fighting bottom feeder cheaters and constant DDOS attacksβ¦
On top of which, with the sheer amount of physical and mental exhaustion from the last few weeks.. we decided to take a bit of a reset- not everyone but a good chunk of the team have been forced to use holiday this week. Thats why weβve been βofficiallyβ quieter.. during said holidays, most people had to work a fair bit!
I hope you donβt see this as resting on our laurels but instead see it as us finishing a sprint and taking a breather to prepare for a marathon.
We feel a bit out of control with how big things have gone and how much extra security we have been forced to do. But I still believe in our plan and ask you to believe in our team.
The next part of this journey is going to get spicy, we wont have fixed everything, people will begin to say we arenβt listening, you may even see people start to panic about player count!
But weβre here for the long haul, weβre in a position where we can try make 1.0 and beyond exactly what we want it to be, no compromises, thatβs the dream right?
Thanks for all the support, we wonβt always get it right and we havenβt on this first balance pass.. but we will change it every season to keep it fresh and to keep trying new things.
