It was great to launch the @BHFNI Hearts Needs More report: Making Prevention a priority today in Stormont. Powerful messages coming from two brave families sharing their stories. There was broad acceptance that prevention must be prioritised within manifesto and the next PfG
Today at Stormont, two families bravely shared their stories of loss as we launched our #HeartsNeedMore report.
Stronger prevention could spare up to 500 families a year the heartbreak of premature loss.
Hearts cannot wait.

❤️ The Health Minister and Chief Medical Officer attended the launch of @BHFNI's "Hearts Need More" report.
📄 Minister Butler and Prof Sir Michael McBride said Department of Health officials would consider the report in detail and explore the recommendations within it.

ALT Pictured at the launch at Parliament Buildings with Health Minister Robbie Butler are Head of BHF NI Fearghal McKinney, Lucy Huffington from Portstewart, who lost her father Garry suddenly to a heart attack in September with Terry Rice from Newry, who lost his husband Derek to a heart attack in February.
Thanks Danny, I can confirm the panel was very good as well!
This was an excellent event. Well done to @BHFNI. The report is very powerful. Ps I believe the panel was very good too ! ;)

A man on a galloping horse could see this coming if they allowed this march to go ahead. How the PSNI assessment could state that they didn’t anticipate disturbance is incomprehensible? They knew well enough at beginning of the week to call in reinforcements from England.

I can't recall a resignation letter as subtly savage. Mike Nesbitt was the most popular Stormont minister in @LucidTalk poll. This is extremely damaging for the UUP which had just so recently been making major headway in the wake of the DUP's difficulties.

⁉️🍫NI urged to follow rest of UK by restricting price promotions on unhealthy foods
🛒Location-based promotions on products high in fat, salt and sugar (HFSS), including end-of-aisle displays and multi-buy offers, could be banned if Northern Ireland adopts legislation similar to that in England, Scotland and Wales.
🫀The British Heart Foundation says the current retail environment encourages overconsumption and is 'driving an obesity crisis' here, as it welcomes a consultation on the issue by the Department of Health and Food Standards Agency.

We are calling for the introduction of legislation following the consultation on price promotion legislation on unhealthy foods by the Department of Health and Food Standards Agency.
Our Policy and Public Affairs Manager, Liam Duggan, said: “This consultation is welcome, but it must be the start of decisive action. The next Executive must deliver legislation to restrict price and location-based promotions of high fat, sugar and salt products (HFSS). Anything less is unacceptable.
“This legislation would bring Northern Ireland in line with neighbouring jurisdictions in England, Scotland and Wales. The people of Northern Ireland deserve the same protections from an unhealthy food environment that encourages overconsumption of HFSS food and drink which is driving the obesity crisis.
“Living with overweight or obesity is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease. An estimated 1 in 8 cardiovascular disease deaths in Northern Ireland is associated with a high body mass index.
“To tackle obesity, we need a concerted, whole-system approach across all Executive Departments. Price promotion legislation is just one action and more needs to be done to deliver the promises of the Healthy Futures obesity strategy.”

Well… two photos. Just one month apart.
We know there’s still a long way to go, but just look at what organ donation has already made possible.
