Watch how institutional power is not merely normalized, but openly celebrated in Bitcoin's social layer. Wealth, status, access, and proximity to power are elevated, while Bitcoin's founding principles, including sovereignty and the separation of money and state, are ridiculed. The values of the fiat system Bitcoin was created to challenge are being repackaged as Bitcoin's path to success. On November 5, Mars Spits Bars takes this worldview to BTC Inc's Bitcoin Amsterdam, on a Whale Pass-only panel titled: “BIG BITCOIN: IN CONTROL?” The CAPTURE articles documents the institutional relationships and mechanisms of influence. Bitcoin's social layer is the final line of defense against complete institutional capture. But if that very social layer is being conditioned to celebrate institutional power, ridicule principled opposition, and attack those exposing its concentration, who exactly is left to resist it?

Apparently need a whale pass nowadays to land you a seat at the table. Decentralised power...? The recent fork seems to have removed all the brakes for institutionalisation of bitcoin. Painful.

Hey @JoeNakamoto, maybe update yourself over the blockstream/liquid issues by your fellow promoters. Or ignore it again.
Hey @Liquid_BTC - no updates? When will the 600 BTC be returned and when will peg-outs start again? Real people are waiting for their savings!

Can only say: yup... totally.
The Xanadu-bitcoiners (complexity junkies) are at it again. A black-box, running in a black-box. Be sure they'll soon sell you some nice hardware to be working with this payload-bearer asset. :) incredible (although I admire the technical part)

Liquid still needs some time to die, but at least did no damage to L1 like this monstrosity. Forgot what Taproot is all about..? No need for extra bytes anywhere. And Liquid was open about tokenising *off* chain... this is the trojan horse
Shielded Bitcoin: Zcash-style private transfers on Bitcoin L1, no soft fork. Encrypted notes + nullifiers + ZK proofs posted on-chain, state rebuilt by indexers. Hides amount, sender, receiver, graph. Costs: Groth16 trusted setup, ~4× fees, empty anonymity set, peg-in/out (via PIPEs) still unpublished.

Next: here's our new token, no forks necessary anymore, no bridges, no operators, just bitcoin.

Having some experience with retail, this gives a sinking feeling. Especially when you know he hardly slept for days on end to help his relations to escape the Coinkite trap...😠
We once were the biggest reseller of @COLDCARDwallet in EU… 😭 What can we do with our current stock?

🍖THE CANNIBALS ARRIVE So you thought the story ended with the Ark of the Covenant doubling as a public urinal, right? The janitors being called Nazi puritans. You would think, that's rock bottom. That's the bottom of the ocean. Nope. NOPE. There's a trench, people. There's always a trench. 'Cause one morning we're up on deck, scrubbing dicks off the hull like responsible adults, and somebody yells, "RAFT OFF THE STARBOARD BOW!" And here they come. The world computer guys. Paddling toward us on a raft made of dead Layer 2s, lashed together with rug pulls. Now these people—these people spent TEN YEARS wandering the desert. And before you ask—yeah, I know, how is there a desert AND a flood? I don't know! It's crypto! Nothing has to make sense! The whitepaper is a vibe! Shut up! Ten years out there. And they started with EVERYTHING, that's the thing. Decentralized finance. Decentralized social media. Decentralized governance. Decentralized toaster firmware. They were gonna decentralize your MARRIAGE. And one by one, every single thing collapsed. The DAOs got drained. The yields went to zero. The gas fees ate the users... and then the users ate each other. That's not a metaphor! That's what happened! Somewhere around year six they ran outta exit liquidity and they just started EATING EACH OTHER. Financially at first! Then... y'know. Spiritually. Then just... regular. So this raft pulls up. And the first guy climbs the ladder, and he's GNAWING ON A FEMUR. He's wearing a "Code is Law" T-shirt, and I don't wanna tell you what the shirt is made of. And he looks around at our boring, functional, monetary ark—the one thing in this entire industry that just WORKS—and you know what the first thing outta his mouth is? "You know what this place needs?" NO. NO WE DON'T. WE DON'T WANNA KNOW WHAT IT NEEDS. It doesn't NEED anything! It's a LIFEBOAT! It's finished! It floats! That's the whole product! "It needs expressivity." EXPRESSIVITY?! You just spent a decade expressing yourselves into CANNIBALISM! You expressed your way through an entire ecosystem! There's nothing left over there but empty Discords and a guy in a wizard hat trying to sell you his own foot! And here's where I lose my mind. Here's where I need a drink. Because you'd think the captains—the guys running the boat—you'd think THEY'D say something. Right? Somebody in a uniform goes, "Hey, maybe don't let the femur guy near the kitchen." NOTHING. The Core guys are down there holding a WELCOME BRUNCH. "We can't discriminate based on dietary preferences! The ark is NEUTRAL TERRITORY! Who are WE to police what consenting adults eat, as long as they pay the cleanup fee!" It's the fee thing again! Everything's fine if there's a fee! You could be boiling a guy in the cargo hold, and as long as you're outbidding a wire transfer, that's not a crime, that's REVENUE! And it escalates, 'cause it always escalates. Week one, the desert people start a little "cooking club." Week two, there's a whitepaper—"Trust-Minimized Protein Sourcing on the Base Layer." Week three, they're trying to TOKENIZE THE PASSENGERS. "Fractional ownership of Steve! Steve is yield-bearing!" STEVE IS A PERSON! Steve fixes the pumps! And the monks—the same poor bastards with the mops, still scraping dicks off the hull—now they gotta fight cannibalism TOO. Same guys! Double shift! And when they say, hey, maybe, MAYBE, the culture of the last lifeboat on Earth shouldn't drift toward EATING THE CREW— "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Dietary fascist much? Kinda closed-minded, bro. Kinda... maximalist." MAXIMALIST?! Yeah! I'm a food maximalist! I maximally believe the passengers should not be the MENU! That's my radical extremist position! Fifteen years ago that was called "being on a boat." Now it's a HATE CRIME! That's the trick, and it's the same trick every time. The guy defending the thing is the extremist. The guy eating his neighbor is the open-minded one. You object to cannibalism on the ark, and some ghoul licking a kneecap goes, "The original passengers don't get to gatekeep the culture, man." THE CULTURE?! The culture was NOT EATING PEOPLE! That was the whole culture! It fit on a napkin! And somewhere out there, Satoshi's watching this. Ghost of the machine, chillin' in the shadow realm. Built an indestructible ark to save the species from the flood. And fifteen years later he's looking down at a boat covered in monkey porn, holding a welcome brunch for cannibals, going: "...I gave you a lifeboat. And you turned it into a floating Jersey Shore bathroom wall with a fee market." But hey. At least the fees are high. The cannibals are eatin'. ...I mean. Yeah. They are. That's the problem. 🍖 xitter.cf/separ8/status/20011069…
So picture this... We got this perfect setup. Satoshi builds the ultimate Noah’s Ark, right? Indestructible adamantium hull, powered by the most expensive goddamn fuel on the planet: actual human energy. Proof of fuckin’ work, baby. One boat. One and only. Meant to save all our asses from the fiat tsunami of endless money-printing bullshit that’s drowning the world. And what do we do? We do what humans always do. We turn it into a floating Jersey Shore bathroom wall. I’m sittin’ there in 2009, reading the Genesis block: “The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks.” Beautiful. Poetic. A middle finger to the system from a ghost who vanishes like a badass. No ego, no name, just pure “fuck you” to the banks. I’m thinkin’, finally, something sacred. Hard money. Limited supply. Our one escape pod. Nah. Cut to 2025. These degenerate monkeys start inscribin’ dickbutts, cartoon apes, and straight-up porn right onto the chain. Forever. This scarce blockspace we bled for is now an eternal digital open sewer. And the Core clowns? These self-appointed captains “upgrading the aerodynamics” on a boat that’s already floating just fine go, “Hey, let’s hand out industrial-strength chisels! v30, baby. Twelve-hundred-times bigger dicks. Innovation. Freedom.” Freedom? FREEDOM?! That’s like saying your family’s lifeboat is “neutral territory.” Anyone can come aboard and shit on the floor as long as they pay the cleanup fee. Then the few sane monks, the Knots guys, start patching the hull. Filtering the garbage. Trying to keep this thing usable as actual money. What happens? They get branded “Knotzis.” Nazis. Authoritarians. One genius, let’s call him Wicked, drops the motherlode digital dick and fires off: “Yeah, that’s a retarded view. I couldn’t care less what knotzis run because they’re the minority, they don’t matter, and because I’ve banned them all from connecting to my node. They can circle jerk all they want in their corner of shame.” Corner of shame?! You’re the one advocating turning humanity’s last financial ark into a glowing NFT sewer. You’re complacent while immortal monkey JPEGs get etched onto the escape hatch, and we’re the shameful ones? Satoshi warned us embedding junk data was “unwise… an accident waiting to happen.” He knew. Yet here we are, debating whether the Ark of the Covenant should double as a public urinal. And the pro-urinal side wins the culture war for a hot minute, calling the cleaners fascists. If Satoshi’s watching from whatever shadow realm he’s chillin’ in, he’s probably thinking: “I gave you proof of work… and you used it for dick pics.” If this isn’t the ultimate irony, taking something pure, sacred, built to save us, and shitting all over it while calling the cleaners fascists, I don’t know what is. The absurdity writes itself. But hey, at least the fees are high. Miners are eatin’. Who needs salvation when you’ve got revenue? #Bitcoin

"suicidal loyalty" That's one for the books. That used to be Core for me. I turned when they blatantly ignored their users. Feels pretty familiar now I'm about to ditch my Q and MK4. You just need few people to mess up a great thing...
Replying to @Bitbello
Mental gymnastics to avoid admitting you trusted someone/something and you were wrong. Psychological phenomenon I like to call suicidal loyalty. Meanwhile Core and NVK hold you in total contempt.

Not the 1st maybe: idea for @seedsigner @selfcustodykrux use onboard cam to read dice rolls instead of manual entry. Line up 11 dice, each is 1 bit (1-3>0, 4-6>1) > 1 BIP39 word. Cam does pattern recog with confidence checks. If it works, less than 11 dice builds to same method.

Best solutions are the ones that make you nod "Of course!"
I believe all hardware wallets should come with 2048 card seedwords which is handpicked by the user and entered in a hardware wallet. The device calculates th 12th/24th word. This way: no to trust, yes to verify

Matt Hill not mincing his words. If you followed bitcoin development, it's clear in hindsight what most of us chose to accept, only because Core used to be the good guy... Opening up bitcoin with OP_RETURN as an official data storage usecase should trigger every bitcoiner though.

Just in Spaces, Shinobi explaning bip110 flag day completely rephrasing how it actually works.. and everyone nods and grins..🤣 Thats what you get when you don't read the bip and trust without verifying. Flag day is: pools only flip 1 bit and keep mining as they would before.
