For us. For fairness. Politics isn't working. For far too long. Put big light on. Barm cakes. Putting the heart back into communities. The Smiths. But not Morrissey, obviously. People up and down this country. Decency. Hard working people. Communities. Picky teas. For our city-region. For all city-regions. Everton. Next door but one. Since 2001. Buses. Yellow buses. Hard working buses, up and down this country. Price caps. Price freezes. Giving back. Not taking enough to begin with. People are sick and tired. Wealth tax. Fairness. Tax land, tax money. Tax wealth. Tax growth. Tax growth to make growth. We're all immigrants, aren't we? No more being in hock to the bond markets. Increase borrowing. Increase spending. Doorsteps. What I'm hearing on the doorsteps. Good touch for a big man. We do things differently here. Wherever here might be. Politics of that which we have in common is moreso in common with unity than that which divides us can divide us from us. Chippy tea. Sad smile. Grass. Selfies. Fourteen years of Tory hurt didn't stop me dreaming. Jogging by the motorway. Like my grandad and his grandad before him. Chuckle. Little chuckle. Well, some people might say that. Guitars. Music. Nothing more esoteric than Elbow. I like Oasis, but I don't condone all the fighting and wouldn't like them now. Bricks. Houses. Terraced houses. Council houses. Ordinary people. Ordinary people like you and me, who haven't got embarrassing comments in their past because they've barely said anything of note. Politics, eh, who'd go into that? No, I wouldn't say I'm a saviour exactly. But the Labour Party has to be saved and I'm the only one who can do it. Milquetoast? I'm not really familiar with the term, but I like milk and I love toast, haha. They serve toast in the breakfast clubs, and we should honour Sir Keir's legacy really. Fantastic Prime Minister. Just not for very long. I love this country that I love, I'm very patriotic. But the flag is divisive, and we need to have a debate about that. A debate about whether or not it's divisive, about which I have no opinion. I went to Cambridge, and I'm not afraid to admit that. Ordinary lad done good. I've seen the system from the inside. I've seen the system from the outside. I've seen the system from Merseyside. It's not working. Not for ordinary folk like you and me. I'm a man, and I'm not afraid to admit that. But it is divisive, and we should have a debate about that. The North. People say it's grim up north, hah, maybe that's why we're more realistic up here. We know the problems people are facing, because we're the ones what's facing 'em. Regional inequality is something I'm passionate about. It's not fair that pints are only £7 in Manchester when pub landlords in London are raking in much more. Minimum wage for pints. Get young people earning, so we can tax them. Doe eyes. Glasses. I'm a bit older, a bit wiser, a bit heavier, haha. Ask me mates, they'll tell you. Don't ask them, actually. They're made of cardboard. I've always cared about equality. Sharing is caring, as my kids say. I think my wife taught them that. As PM I will do everything in my power to put every town in this country on the map. Of this country. Manchester feels half the world away. I've been lost, I've been found, but I don't feel down the back of the sofa for loose change. Not a bad idea though, in fairness. Fairness. Barrow-in-Fairness. In fairness, fairness isn't a bad idea to be fair. I'm from Wigan, me. As honest as can be. Uncle Joe's Mint Balls. Change. Believe in change. Believe deeply in unspecified change. And hope. Hope deeply for belief in unspecified change. Keep calm and carry the shopping back from the car in one go. For Andy. For us. Forever.

There's no bravery in biting the hand that fed you. But there's a strange kind of fashion in it. A tired, bitter performance dressed up as insight. Steve Coogan has once again stepped up to the stage to deliver his part; the jaded celebrity who finds Britain distasteful, the flag unsettling, the people beneath him. He says he holds the British flag at arm's length. That he feels "antipathy" towards it. That he took Irish citizenship to distance himself from Britain's history and, he admits, to improve his chances of not being beheaded by terrorists. That is the level of thought now passed off as political commentary in modern Britain. Empty, performative, insulated. Coogan is no outsider. He's not some dissident speaking hard truths from the margins. He's a millionaire product of British media, raised up by British audiences, made famous by British tolerance. He made his name playing a parody of provincial ignorance, and now spends his later years sneering at the real thing. The man who once joked about egos has become one. The mask has slipped, and the smirk behind it isn't ironic, it's disdain. His disdain is not just for the flag. It's for the country itself. For the idea of Britain. For the people who wave the flag he now shrinks from. Coogan's politics are not rooted in courage, but in cowardice. He hides behind satire when challenged and posture when praised. He mocks "Reform" as anti-human rights, yet endorsed Corbyn and excused Hamas. He calls Conservative voters ignorant, but cannot see the arrogance staring back at him in the mirror. What Coogan reveals, and he's far from alone, is a class of cultural elites who live in Britain but no longer belong to it. They speak of community but despise the country. They profit from its freedoms while undermining the institutions that uphold them. They treat national loyalty as backward, but tribal politics as virtuous. They ridicule tradition, but cling to grievance. They swap passports like outfits and call it identity. Coogan now claims to live "in the middle of the Irish Sea," floating above the very place that paid for his career. That's the modern liberal dream. To exist everywhere and nowhere. To enjoy the spoils of a strong state while disowning its history. To accuse Britain of colonialism from within its borders, on its stages, in its language, paid for by its people. No other country would tolerate this. No other nation is asked to smile as it is insulted, to clap as it is caricatured, to pay for its own humiliation by men who made their money here and now market themselves as victims of it. Coogan's flag is not Irish or British. It is the banner of the rootless, the credentialed class that speaks in clichés about justice but never takes the risk of serving it. He holds up his passport like a shield and calls it conscience. But it's not conscience. It's vanity. Britain is tired of these people. Tired of their sneers, their smirks, their excuses. Tired of being told it should be ashamed. Coogan's antipathy for the Union Jack isn't original or profound. It's the same hollow pose we've heard from actors and pundits for years. But the public is no longer listening. It's looking for voices that defend, not deconstruct. That remember, not rewrite. That build, not sneer. Let Coogan drift in the Irish Sea, if that's where he feels he belongs. The rest of us are staying put. Not out of nostalgia, but duty. Because a country is more than a stage. It's not there to amuse you. It's not a prop for your politics. It's home. And if that word makes you uncomfortable, the problem isn't the flag. It's you. "What Coogan reveals, and he's far from alone, is a class of cultural elites who live in Britain but no longer belong to it. They speak of community but despise the country."

Not much chance of that given the monarchy’s role is largely ceremonial, even if technically he has constitutional powers. He hath neither the backbone nor clout to exercise his powers.
For me the King needs to act. That is the whole point of a separate Head of State. He needs to recognise his people do not want this government and let them choose again.

‘Smart’ meter installed in August after being told the old meter would fail to transmit and that we’d lose power. Since installation, ‘smart’ meter failed to transmit any readings. Despite informing @edfenergy many times I’m no closer to being able to get a bill 4 months on. 🤡🤬

Imported this A6 Allroad recently from Japan. Didn’t expect to like it quite as much as I do. The 3.0TFSi engine is an absolute belter.* *fuel economy aside.

Made the mistake of purchasing one of those Carly scanners about a year ago. Not only was it pretty rubbish, it just auto renewed the subscription for another year at a price of £135. Absolute rip off.

If you want the oil in your engine to stay in your engine. Never buy an aftermarket sump plug or seal from the likes of Euro Car Parts or similar.

WTF is the point of electronic dipsticks to measure oil level when they require a car to be started to measure it and are about as trustworthy as a politician. Suspect a low oil level but you have to start and warm the car up first? Crap. #Audi

I can see why @nationaltyres are not active on social media. Finally found a worse company than Evri. Waited in all afternoon for £650 worth of Michelins via mobile fitting only for them not to turn up or even call. Turns out they haven’t ordered the tyres. Dismal company. Avoid.
