"Good."
She lifted his chin and planted a kiss on his lips. Her other hand shifted on his leg, inching higher.
"Bullshit."
Her hand grabbed at him, fingers squeezing his leg lightly.
"Is your mom nice? Would be a little... awkward if she's... You know."
"God. You're irredeemable."
But her expression wasn't one of disgust.
"That's probably why I keep letting you back in."
"Fuck you!"
She walked over to where he was and plopped herself down beside him. No point fixing a shithole.
"Tried. What happened? Where's the gentleman?"
She chuckled.
"Then again, I guess it is 'gentlemanly' to be offering your home."
"Oh yeah, that little... That daughter of yours is just like you, isn't she? What about your mom? Do you take after her?"
"And I'm supposed to remember?"
She fully gave up on the sink.
"Your mother's there? Since when?"
No rent sounded really good. Especially when she lived in a shitty apartment that needed to be fixed every five minutes.
"Wouldn't we end up having a... Clash of clients? Assuming we're both working from your office."
Jessica looked at him as if she was considering it. She wouldn't, right? It's /Daimon/. Why would she?
"It's sounding a little bit appealing. But would I get a room and an office to receive clients?"
"No thanks. You live in God knows where. That'll just make my job more difficult. No job, no rent."
"Buy me a place and I'll move."
She fiddled with the sink.
"rent is cheap enough and it's in a convenient part of town. So it isn't bad. We can't all live in mansions."
"Thaβ"
She glanced towards him. Her eyebrow cocked.
"Thanks."
She peered under the cabinet again, trying to figure things out.
"Okay, I think I see the problem."
She reached back swatted his hand away.
Jessica shook her head. But she bent down and examined the pipes underneath the sink.
"hey, pass me the flashlight."
She didn't turn around to face him. She simply held out her hand, waiting.
She was contemplating throwing the screwdriver at him. Maybe it'll pierce that heart of his. Or his brain. Either works.
"Maybe I'll need to... I don't know. If you're going to give your opinion, then use your hands. Not just your mouth."
Jessica took a deep breath. He was already getting on her nerves.
She dropped the toolbox in front of him and grabbed a screwdriver and a wrench. She wasn't sure what she'd need.
"Wipe that smirk off your face."
She didn't need to look at him to know.
She looked at him silently, trying to decide if she was going to say anything or not.
"let's just say I didn't like the company of the last person who visited me."
She walked away and came back with a small toolbox.
"Are you helping or not?"
