USA: You can’t ride a bike without a helmet. The risks are too high.

2014 ish: Don’t have your smartphone out in public. It’s obvious you’re a tourist and a target.
2022: Ha! You look out of place if you’re not using your phone.
2004: Wear comfortable shoes, but not sneakers. You will stand out like a sore thumb.
2022: Seriously, 75% of everyone here is now wearing sneakers.
2004: Get a bunch of cash from ATM. Credit card fees will cost a fortune.
2022: No fees! Everyone pays for everything with tap transactions.
Random travel thoughts from The Netherlands. I first visited Europe in 2004 with @PDXBeerMaven. Three things that I find fascinating that have changed since then.
#XmasEve tradition - @PDXBeerMaven & I watch @DieHard. First time I saw in the credits that Bruce Willis had a hair stylist. Likely the easiest job on the set. 😂 One bald guy to another.
What I heard @PDXBeerMaven say… I need to go to the store and buy Rolos.
What she actually said… I need to go to the store to buy rolled oats.
Now I’m craving Rolos!
Cleaning up dinner tonight I dropped a Cutco knife. I was wearing flip flops. Very happy I still have all my toes. With the #Delta surge there’s no way I’d be seen in the ER. @PDXBeerMaven would need to fix me with duct tape.
