Thank you to @NASA_Technology for flying Draper’s Multi-Environment Navigator, or DMEN, aboard New Shepard to improve terrain-relative navigation for future landings on the Moon and other planets. Proud to support Commercial Lunar Payload Services and this program.
We're testing new technologies to stick the landing on planetary surfaces with challenging terrain! Over 4 months, 4 precision landing systems flew on 4 different vehicles, gathering key data for safer, more accurate landings for future missions. More: go.nasa.gov/4kjfSKQ

Draper Lab's (@DraperLab) Multi-Environment Navigator (DMEN) is a vision based navigation technology for high altitude entry, descent, and landing missions to ensure safe landing. In a recent BlueOrigin's New Shepard NS-29, DMEN algorithms were validated. "DMEN is a self-contained package that weighs 4 pounds and fits within a volume of 10in x 10in x 8in. All necessary hardware is contained within the system, except for the external camera lens, including an inertial measurement unit sensor, camera body, processing, sensor circuitry and battery power. A powerful suite of algorithms processes the sensor data into a navigation solution, providing capability for visual-inertial odometry and visual terrain-based absolute positioning."
