The big new on-rails shooter Wild Blue Skies from @ChuhaiLabs is out today, and we chatted with the devs all about how they aimed to modernize a classic arcade-style genre. "When making Wild Blue Skies, we realized just how much of the feel of on-rail shooters was driven by the limitations of the time, and that we shouldn't be afraid to embrace them. One of our big "ah-ah!" moments was realizing just how much view distance impacted gameplay. We spent a lot of time in development being able to see far off in the distance, which made enemies feel like they were spawning out of thin air and made players want to shoot farther than they could."
