My strong advocacy for Nerve Stimulator even in the era of ultrasound is when “the eyes cannot see what the mind does not know" ! & when 👀 cannot see at all !
PNS is a great tool box in #regionalanethesia
@NYSORA advocates most often ! @Jerryblocksthat
For me it’s a MUST !

Editor’s Recommendation✏️
Propensity scores can balance measured covariates—but they do not establish causality.
New #KJA Statistical Round: how to align estimands (ATE/ATT), covariate selection, overlap, and unmeasured confounding for sound causal interpretation.
PS matching ≠ causality.

ALT Illustration of positivity and overlap in PS-based analyses. Panel (A) shows adequate overlap in propensity score distributions between the treatment and control groups, supporting valid comparisons. Panel (B) shows limited overlap, in which extreme propensity scores may lead to unstable estimates, particularly in inverse probability of treatment weighting. Limited overlap reduces both the validity and generalizability of causal effect estimates.
Is it a surprise that there are so many concerns with LAST with continuous SPIP blockade?

Seems appealing and clinically effective
Reviewed for this open-access journal.
Recommended Reject.
Editor decided to accept without revision, "based partly on my recommendation".
Ok.
I just love this figure that differentiates between association vs causation in observational studies.

You know what would be a rad conference talk?
Bias in observational regional anesthesiology research
It'd be super cool for a methodology-heavy conference like IARS.

Does anyone have experience doing retrospective cohort study using target trial emulation framework? Sounds good in theory but wondering about practical pitfalls. Advice from experience really appreciated.

This is an important volunteer study showing that peripheral nerve blockade, in itself, is unlikely to CAUSE hyperalgesia upon block resolution. This study offers important mechanistic insights into rebound pain pathogenesis.
