Interestingly they numb your taste buds temporarily leading to a unique flavor profile when mixed with other spices.

The Zanthoxylum are a genus in the Rutaceae (citrus family), not closely related to black pepper. If you look at them closely they look like tiny oranges

In a new Science study, researchers estimate that as many as 1.4 billion people live in areas with soil dangerously polluted by heavy metals like arsenic, cadmium, cobalt, chromium, copper, nickel, and lead. The results reveal a global risk, but also a previously unrecognized high-risk, metal-enriched zone in low-latitude Eurasia. scim.ag/4jdqOJB

Tomatoes are versatile! US farms produce about 1/3rd of what we consume; another 1/3 frm Mexico ,1/3 frm Canada & the rest frm elsewhere. Production combined with postharvest tech ensures red tomatoes are there everytime you walk into a store! #food #stories
