I've got a personal update, just started a new job! I'm now Senior Lecturer in Technology and Society at the University of Birmingham. Still doing much the same work. Am in the School of Social Policy. Great to see them support this kind of role.

I use Twitter much less these days, but thought I should mention some things I’ve done over the last year, in case anyone is interested. 6 publications (3 mito, 2 cultured meat, and 1 capoeira), and three new grants (all cultured meat)…

The third is a public engagement project related to the above APEX award (same funders) called ‘Will Barnstaple Bite?’. We will visit Barnstaple for several days to talk to the local community about cultured meat, through creative practices facilitated by artist @theNaomiHart

Looking forward, I have more cultured meat papers in the pipeline, as well as thinking more about methods in STS and beyond, and a large edited Handbook project. I’ll try to be better at tweeting about these things as they happen, as opposed to leaving it to an annual round up.

Nice writeup on the state of the #cultivatedmeat industry by @EWatsonWrites Investors predict a lot of attrition in the coming months. Still, some companies will survive, along w/ promising Gen 2 companies & B2B players that can add real value agfundernews.com/crunch-time…

Glad to see more calls to recognise the Public Understanding of Social Science in its own rights. The timing couldn't be better with a recent publication of social scientists’ roles in public communication as situated in its historical contexts. doi.org/10.1080/01292986.202…

TODAY...JULY 1, 2023 - FREEDOM and INDEPENDENCE took a new meaning. - We said "Yes" to CHOICE and LIFE. - We said "No" to STATUS QUO. - We sold the FIRST EVER whole textured chicken that did not have to die to make us happy. - It was simply DELICIOUS 🙏@UPSIDEfoods @USDA @US_FDA
