🎉 PRINCIPAL SPOTLIGHT | DR. MATT BODY 🎉 We’re kicking off our National Principals Month profiles with Dr. Matt Body, principal of Rocky Plains Elementary School! Before becoming a school leader, Dr. Body taught high school language arts, advised yearbook, and coached basketball and golf. Today, he says one of the best parts of leading Rocky Plains is the strong connection he feels with the school’s students, staff, and community. “I grew up in a similar environment, so I really see myself and my family in our community,” Dr. Body shared. “They are a hardworking community who want the best for their children.” For Dr. Body, creating a school where children feel cared for is especially important. He wants every Rocky Plains student to know there is an adult they can turn to for help or guidance—and to feel safe enough to try, make mistakes, and try again. And when he walks the halls of Rocky Plains, it’s the students who make him smile most. Whether they’re excited to share what they’re learning, stopping to say hello, or offering a hug, Dr. Body says, “It is such a loving environment.” A few fun facts about Dr. Body: He loves spending time with his family, comedy, painting, woodworking, traveling, cooking, reading and writing. His favorite food is Thai, he cheers for the Oregon Ducks and Los Angeles Lakers, and if he weren’t working in education, he says you might find him doing improv!
