I think it's pretty obvious what's happened here. Eight years ago we ended up in the darkest timeline, and never emerged. And recently we fell into the darkest timeline of the darkest timeline. Basically, we're in Inception, but co-directed by David Lynch and Paul Verhoeven.

No. Nice thought, but no. This sentiment misses the glaring, horrifying fact that Trump's victory was itself a massive act of demonization. Also, using Tolkien to offer this platitude in this moment is an egregious misreading of Tolkien.
