If Scott Moe forces this through using the notwithstanding clause, he is forcing teachers to violate children's rights or risk losing their jobs. How did Saskatchewan get into the hards of such a cruel authoritarian? leaderpost.com/news/local-ne…

The Carney government just dropped a $3.2 billion food security strategy and it’s worth understanding what it actually does. Right now, only 11 cents of every dollar you spend on groceries reaches the farmer who grew it. Five companies control 80% of the grocery market. And Canada exports billions in agricultural products while turning around and importing processed versions of the same food from the US at a markup. This plan attacks that problem structurally. $1 billion goes toward food terminals and distribution hubs so independent grocers can buy directly from Canadian farmers, cutting out the middleman. The Competition Bureau gets a funding boost to go after the property control tricks big grocers use to block competitors from moving in nearby. And Farm Credit Canada gets $1 billion for domestic food processing so we stop exporting raw product and importing it back as something more expensive. The targets are concrete: expand the Ontario Food Terminal by end of year, open two new food terminals and 10 regional food hubs by 2028. This isn’t a handout to Loblaws. It’s infrastructure to break their stranglehold on the supply chain. Will it fix your grocery bill overnight? No. But building real competition into the system is how you get lasting price relief, not a rebate that disappears after one quarter.

I reflected a while after hearing of Mark Friesen's passing. It's honestly so very tragic. He was a victim of the same disinformation he spread. He had years of mental and physical suffering after barely surviving covid. I'm sure the costs to his poor family were immense. So sad.

You know it's bad when an antivax government is trying to stop their most delusional supporters from killing their babies.
If you’re planning to become pregnant make sure you have received two doses of the vaccine at least one month before conception.

Saskatchewan women deserve better than the Sask Party.
📣New Menopause Clinic for Manitobans. Women deserve high-quality health care through every season of life. That includes menopause - a time when the right care can make a real difference, today and for long-term health. With a $5.2 million investment, we’re restoring specialized care that was lost when the Mature Women’s Clinic closed in 2017 - and building something stronger in its place. So Manitoba can lead again in women’s health. Promise made. Promise kept ✅

Watching the live feed of the Legislative Assembly, the SaskParty keep comparing statistics to 2007 when the NDP were last in power. That was nearly two decades ago... Some voters were not even born yet. Current NDP MLAs were not part of government then. If you’ve been in charge for nearly 20 years, the numbers don’t belong to the last, long gone government anymore. They belong to you. Take responsibility.

Hey @Microsoft you might want to check out why my Microsoft SLS which was presenting in PowerPoint to my university class spontaneously reset without warning and got stuck in a reboot loop for 8 minutes trying to do the latest unapproved update. It's a bad look.

Leaving stranded sailors to drown after sinking their ship at sea is an example of the US demonstrating that the US are not like the Nazi. The US are so much worse. Conventions of war are part of civilization. Ignoring them is a war crime.

The Iranian ship will not be where it was if we had not invited it to talk part in our Milan exercise. We were the hosts. I am told that as per protocol for this exercise ships cannot carry any ammunition. It was defenceless. The Iranian naval personnel had paraded before our president . The attack by the US submarine was premeditated as the US was aware of the Iranian ship’s presence in the exercise to which the US navy was invited but withdrew from participation at the last minute, presumably with this operation in mind. The US has ignored India’s sensitivities as the ship was in these waters because of India’s invitation. We are far from politically or militarily responsible for the US attack. Our“responsibility” is at a moral and human plane. A word of condolence by the Indian Navy ( after political clearance) at the loss of lives of those who were our invitees and saluted our president would be in order.
Our watch gets over when the Ship leaves territorial water. Not till they get home. Their country is at war. They should have stayed in shelter of India. In international waters, they had Not sought an escort from Indian Navy. And the incident is off the Sri Lankan coast...not India.

Love it when people scream "I have no morals and think blackmail is cool" because you know they have skeletons too.
Am I going to be the guy that breaks it to Matt Jeneroux’s wife, what Matt has done, while in Ottawa? 🧐 I’ll tell you this much: The staffers. They know. 😉

I hope if I get killed by a robot it uses some cool ninja moves instead of simply crushing me or using range weapons.

The unity of Canadian responses to this ugly irrelevant troll is beautiful.
Dear PM @MarkJCarney, we are at a tragic and historic turning point. As we all grieve the pain of these families, we now have a choice. Are we going to choose shameful ignorance and downplay what the RCMP and some non-government paid media have said. The killer is biologically male. We must join other jurisdictions and nations along with International medical and scientific bodies and at least put a temporary hold on the life-threatening practice of allowing children to be subjected to surgical and pharmaceutical alterations related to the issue of so-called gender confusion. This must include an immediate stop to prescribing SSRI medications to children dealing with this question of gender. If Canada’s citizens do not immediately begin calling their MLAs and MP‘s to pursue this subject, then we deserve the highway of horrors that will continue to overrun us.

Stop listening to the propaganda that “We could have had a free bridge.” Let me tell you the truth. A little background: The Ambassador Bridge in Detroit generates approximately $60–70 million a year in toll revenue and probably close to another $30 million in gas sales. (It’s always busy.) Matty Moroun’s son knows that when the new Gordie Howe Bridge opens, this revenue will dry up; very few will use his old, decrepit bridge. Matthew Moroun has also given significantly to the Republican National Committee (e.g., over $1 million in recent years, including large sums in 2025). These donations occurred amid the family’s long-standing efforts to influence policy, including ads in 2018 appealing directly to Trump to block permits for the rival public bridge and recent lobbying (e.g., a 2026 meeting with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick ahead of Trump’s criticisms of the Gordie Howe project). The Ambassador Bridge twinning project (also known as the Ambassador Bridge Enhancement Project or ABEP), proposed by Matty Moroun (and later his family/business) to build a second parallel span next to the existing 1929 Ambassador Bridge, was effectively shut down and abandoned due to regulatory hurdles, governmental opposition, legal setbacks, and conflicting requirements between the U.S. and Canada. So who shut down the twinning? In 2009, the U.S. Coast Guard suspended and later terminated the bridge permit application process for the twinning project. This stemmed from issues like lack of required air rights over Detroit’s Riverside Park (needed for construction) and failure to address marine navigation/safety concerns adequately. The U.S. Coast Guard refused to process or issue the permit, citing concerns upheld in court as not arbitrary or capricious. The Morouns fought the rival public bridge (Gordie Howe International Bridge, now nearing completion/opening in 2026) through lawsuits, lobbying, and public campaigns, arguing it would undermine their private monopoly. Courts repeatedly rejected their claims (e.g., no exclusive rights to crossings, reasonable government decisions to pursue a new span). With the Gordie Howe project advancing (fully funded by Canada, providing redundancy the twinning could not match in official assessments), the twinning became non-viable. Canada actually gave the Morouns a chance at twinning the bridge, but the 2017 conditional permit expired in 2022 (around August/September) because the bridge company failed to meet over a dozen required conditions (e.g., further approvals, environmental steps, and resolving conflicts). Now you know the truth.

You personally asked Epstein to "bring your girls" and sent him this
I am deeply saddened by the suffering of the victims in this case, and I unequivocally condemn abuse and exploitation in all forms. I want to be clear: I was never involved in, nor did I participate in, any criminal or exploitative conduct. Any contact I had was limited and unrelated to abusive activity. Some past email exchanges have surfaced that reflect poor judgment in tone. I regret that and understand how they read today, given what was publicly known at the time. My focus remains on supporting accountability, prevention, and efforts that protect and support survivors.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
