Mindlobowing IR satellite image of Category 5 hurricane #Milton. Those gravity waves! Max sustained winds of 180 mph (290 km/h), central pressure of 905 mbar. Only 2 other hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico have had maximum winds of 180+ mph since 1950: Allen (1980) and Rita (2005)
Congratulations @dwaynefields on becoming Chief Scout, inspiring half a million @Scouts to believe in themselves, help other people and gain #SkillsForLife
We’re excited to announce @DwayneFields, adventurer and TV presenter, as the UK’s new Chief Scout. He's been appointed to lead our half a million young people and adult volunteers. Read more at: scouts.org.uk/news/2024/sept…
We’re updating our river level station pages to show a more accurate trend of the river. Based on feedback, we’ll now use an average of the last 5 readings instead of just 2. Stay tuned for more accurate river trends! check-for-flooding.service.g… #rivertrend #checkforflooding
Another day, another badly overcrowded and thus potentially unsafe @CrossCountryUK train. Train manager has actually just asked us all to complain on social media because ‘maybe they will then listen’, any comments @CrossCountryUK?
I'm honoured and humbled to have been awarded an OBE in the #NewYearsHonours. This is, however, really a recognition of the importance of the work we all collectively do in these fields to make the world a safer, more welcoming and inclusive place. Thank you for all you do too.

One of the reasons we're worried about #StormCiarán is because of the loss of 'capacity' within the soil as a result of #StormBabet. This animation shows how the soil moisture deficit changed across England and Wales 10 days ago - the dark blues showing 'saturated' catchments
There is something immediately restorative about being in the national HQ of @Scouts, surrounded by history, and with an inspiring vision for the future. I don’t take for granted having the privilege of working from Gilwell Park today. #SkillsForLife #Volunteering
I’m learning something new every day in @Scouts, today it’s pioneering. This bridge was constructed by our 10-14 year olds, and made safe by the leaders! #Volunteering #SkillsForLife #DynamicRiskAssessment
Really good to see my local university taking the lead on this, even better to see on @BBCNews they may take it public. But kudos goes to the students who originally campaigned for this need to be met 👏 #ClimateCrisis #ClimateEmergency
♻️ We are pleased to be the first UK university to launch a free course about the #climate emergency for all students.
The comprehensive online course has been developed following a successful campaign students Adam Edwards and Harry O’Higgins.

Our thoughts are with the people of Morocco, including our fellow Scouts, following the devastating earthquake on Friday evening. Find out how Scouts can help and get advice for supporting young people scouts.org.uk/news/2023/sept…

Already seeing knitting appeals for Morocco - please please don’t do this. Donated or home made gifts usually become the secondary disaster. Sell your beautiful yarn creations locally and donate the money. #CashNotStuff 🧦
My thoughts on representation in the new #Barbie film, and what it means for more #diversity in the workplace and the #PublicServices we deliver (featuring a #BarbiePink @EnvAgency hard hat 😍)👇

Go green and take part in #AMillionHands with this lovely craft by @WWF_UK. You’ll be encouraging others to protect the environment, while practicing your paper folding skills! 💚🌍 bit.ly/3pqXNU2
On #WindrushDay2023 a thought provoking read from a wonderful former @EnvAgency colleague of mine, now doing amazing work for both @scouts and @macmillancancer
Today we mark 75 years since the HMT Empire Windrush arrived in Britain. Mike Clarke writes about what Windrush means to him, and how this links to his volunteer role at Scouts reaching more under-represented communities. bit.ly/3Psc6lU #Windrush75
Shame #DL100 doesn’t have a category for Digital Nails of the Year 😁. Looking forward to celebrating with colleagues from the Environment Agency and all the other finalists at the Digital Leaders awards later this week and hope everyone is enjoying #DLW…lnkd.in/eQ9bQzyC
