I know I've talked about the competence/confidence loop a lot (when you get to see competence, it develops the confidence you need to take the risk to try the next step).
But what I don't talk often enough about is how the inverse can be true and so damaging to students.

I gave him the chopsticks and my friend cut up the chicken tenders. The child grabbed the chopsticks and started eating right away. He even swapped hands to give a ✌🏻as he ate. This reminded me of the power of having your culture and the whole of you honored and seen.
