Of course abortion should be free. It's healthcare.
The Greens would have provided the votes in Parliament for Labor to make abortion free at any point over the last 4 years.
In fact, we asked them to do it many times.

You may have missed it as the media was silent, but late yesterday the Labor-dominated committee looking into Lidia Thorpe’s bill to ban strip searches of children delivered its final report. The answer to overwhelming evidence of harm? Nothing that would stop a single search.
Kudos to @Leo_Puglisi6. He's one of the only journos who actually seems to understand the Greens and their electoral prospects.
If the Greens' recent polling continues, the party may surprise in a number of "sleeper" seats in the Victorian election, writes Leo Puglisi.

His analysis is pretty consistent with @theswingison from a couple of weeks ago (with some stronger polls for the Greens since). He's basically just added Preston and Essendon to the bottom of the list of outside chances. xitter.cf/theswingison/status/21…
🟢 The Greens have an outside chance or better in 8 seats on today’s polling for the VIC state election:
Very likely: Brunswick, Richmond, Melbourne (3)
Favoured: Northcote, Prahran (2)
Outside chance: Footscray, Pascoe Vale, Albert Park (3)

Work 11 hours a day. Pay a fortune in rent. Get gouged at the supermarket. Hand over more of your wages to privatised corporations. And somehow, you're told that migrants and trans people are the problem.
Progressives warn Jim Chalmers that One Nation are polling strongly because Labor quit being a "progressive party" many years ago.

We need federal Hare-Clarke for the House of Reps, a 27% majority government is insane

The major parties have failed us on climate change.
Now we’re all paying the price, with higher energy and insurance bills, more fires, floods and drought, and massive threats to our food and water systems across Victoria.

"This is our moment" - the Greens are energised after their leadership shakeup, but can they take it up to One Nation?
Attendees at the Victorian state election campaign launch last week seemed to think so, with @rachelrwithers reporting a "rush of excitement" and "renewed sense of optimism".
"Vibes are high in the Greens right now. But it’s those outside the Greens that will need convincing, and it won’t be quite as easy as reinvigorating the base."

I'm doing advocacy with the Greens to get SARS-2 policy written & generate political action. It's almost impossible. Science & proof counts for nothing when our social world is oblivious to it and the illusion of normality has almost everyone frozen into a trance.
For massive #politas nerds: The federal redistribution for Tasmania was formally determined yesterday, which means the new electorate maps are now available. @AusElectoralCom aec.gov.au/redistributions/2…

"HEY hey everyone check out how little we care about doing our job and/or crime policies that don't just equal locking up more Indigenous kids 😏🤣🤭"
In Australia’s most progressive state, when voters are drifting away from the major parties, the Greens seem well placed to make gains — but a media no-show as they were due to announce an election promise spoke volumes > bit.ly/4i6ZVJ5

Our first hit piece (must be cutting thru!)
Love how Hun admits they won’t even turn up to do their job?
Given they didn’t show, I’ll help em out: we didn’t cancel. We launched our policy &our video about it received 10s of 1000s views, more than a Hun article would’ve ever got!

What happens when we elect a Dem majority and they don't:
End the war in Iran.
Hold Israel accountable.
Abolish ICE
Stop the survilence state
Pass universal healthcare
What happens when (as usual) nothing changes?
What's next?
Ballots arrive today and I don't think I've seen any media analysis or investigative reporting on what any of the Tasmanian councils have actually been doing (or not doing) over the last 4 years and which councillors have been pushing/opposing that agenda. #lgtas
The coverage seems to be (1) "councillors are mean to each other" (2) "social media is toxic" & (3) "this candidate is running and says some combo of (1) & (2)". Zero investigative reporting on what councils have been doing re housing, transport, public amenities, recreation...
Appalling decision from the UK Greens conference. You cannot be a "Green" party and support nuclear in any way, shape or form.
The Green Party has voted to abandon its long-running opposition to nuclear power
