Ever notice how doctors don't *own* hospitals? We work in them, we manage them, we make them possible - but we can't *own* them, here in the USA.
Ever wonder why?
In this conversation with the tremendous @eapotts, we explore some of the story behind the ban on physician-owned hospital, current regulations, and the reality of life, business, and patient-care at a hospital owned and operated by the physicians.
Spoiler: it's pretty great. Patients love it, doctors love it, staff love it, and the outcomes are stellar.
Thank you to returning champion @DrDiGiorgio for insights on policy and politics surrounding physician-owned hospitals.

An unexpected $1.5 billion more to work with in the budget. Seems like Indiana can afford the trauma initiatives now. Only asking for $9 million.

Thanks to @kaitlin_lange and @ryanmartin for getting this information out. Unfortunately, the funding for improving Indiana’s trauma system was removed from the budget Thursday night. Hoosiers, reach out to your legislators and urge them to reconsider. @gbosslet, do your thing.

ICYMI: @ryanmartin and I took a deep dive look at Indiana's trauma care system. What we found: Your access to trauma care, and thus your outcomes if you get in a crash or have some other injury, vary greatly across the state. stateaffairs.com/indiana/ind….
At @acsTrauma meeting in March, Indiana was frequently lauded for the work being done to establish statewide trauma system, and for getting support from @GovHolcomb and statehouse. To have it removed from the budget is disappointing and embarrassing. @TheISMA @StateHealthIN
