In my first event out since my recent brain tumour surgery, Katie & I attended a fantastic Epilepsy Action Australia event put on in Sydney on Friday night. It was fabulous, educational, supportive & fundraising & included many brilliant speakers including Dr Kaitlyn Parratt (accompanied by her husband & fellow neurologist John). Kaitlyn has superbly led the management of my (tumour-related) epileptic seizures. It was really inspiring to also meet & hear from many passionate Australians about some of the challenges they face and the excellent work being done to improve diagnosis and management. We even also got to meet the superb entertainers, The Wiggles!

On the phone trying to talk my 81 yr old technically challenged mum through reconnecting her iPad to the internet & then to FaceTime her. She is insistent she hasn’t got a WiFi symbol or a camera icon. Losing the will to live when she says I’ve got a fan and a hot water bottle 🤣

Last Monday was the 1 year anniversary since my #glioblastoma presented when I had a seizure in the mountains in #Poland on 20th May 2023! It hasn't been all plain sailing but I’m pleased that things are still going well. I feel in good form physically and mentally and the recent scans were good. I had a fabulous time celebrating with family and friends on Monday night!
I am so grateful to many many people for their support on the journey especially my wonderful wife Katie, 3 amazing kids Em, Matt & Luce and many other family, friends and colleagues. I am also extremely grateful to the superb multidisciplinary medical team for what they are doing for me.

Hey guess what? I just checked with @SandyHorne61 & she still hasn’t been contacted by anyone at @x @support @engineering about getting her account reinstated. Her last appeal didn’t even generate an automated response. What’s going on @elonmusk?
It’s kind of ironic that @elonmusk is taking a stand for “free speech” saying that this platform should be able to show a video of a priest being stabbed but this very same platform suspended @SandyHorne61 for reporting a fake copy of her account. Go figure 🤷🏻♀️

Amazingly, my latest MRI brain scan shows no recurrence 10 months since my #glioblastoma presented with a seizure in #Poland. Median time to recurrence is 6 months.
I’m extremely hopeful that the novel #neoadjuvant combination #immunotherapy I’ve had & the scientific changes we demonstrated in my tumour post versus pre immunotherapy are being translated into clinical benefit! I’d be thrilled & very proud if this novel approach makes a difference for me & future #brain #cancer patients.
Thanks @ProfGLongMIA for devising & facilitating this superb approach & other members of multidisciplinary team including the @MelanomaAus team & other specialists @Dr_Brindha, Helen Wheeler, Michael Back & many others. Well done also to our @MelanomaAus translation research team including @HelenRizos!
