First week of #ZERO #mpox cases reported in the US. We are at risk unless we finish the job vaccinating folks who could benefit from the shot through intentional work supporting people affected by systemic racism, homophobia, and transphobia. The ruling will result in more than 2,000 entirely preventable HIV infections in the coming year, according to a recent study led by researchers at the Yale School of Public Health.

ALT Research led by faculty at the Yale School of Public Health suggests that the Texas court’s ruling will result in more than 2,000 entirely preventable HIV infections among men who have sex with men – and many more infections in other populations at high risk of HIV transmission – in one year alone. This burden will be imposed disproportionately on Black and Latino gay and bisexual men, as well as transgender women, who already face significant barriers to prevention and care.

I am quite surprised that this ruling affecting coverage for USPSTF recommendations on preventative care is not front page news. This is huge and the implications can be horrible for health. @SherylNYT @nytimes nytimes.com/2023/03/30/us/po…

No less expected! A wonderful #SteveLawnMemorial lecture this evening from @paimadhu. Time to bury sputum microscopy, long treatment regimens and a 100year old vaccine. Also time to close the Know-Do gap. Let’s adopt client centred care for TB. @LSHTM@DTHF_SA
