It’s finally here. It was a real pleasure to talk with @DUALIPA all about Shuggie Bain and to get the women of HMP Downview involved in the conversation. Have a wee listen. 🏴💙🏳️🌈

Who’s coming for a swally? Doctor’s orders.
Beyond, beyond, to be awarded an honorary doctorate in my hometown. Thank you #universityofglasgow for the honour. And big love to Jo Gill and the fantastic English Department.
Seriously though, how cool is this?
Massive thank you to @DUALIPA @service95 @hayfestival and all the readers who came to join in the conversation. Buzzin.

A total joy to interview the incredible @KitdeWaal at @hayfestival this week. She was the most generous and compassionate speaker. WITHOUT WARNING AND ONLY SOMETIMES is a masterclass in memoir. I can’t recommend it enough. Get it read!
@KitdeWaal in conversation with @Doug_D_Stuart about her memoir Without Warning and Only Sometimes. Here’s to celebrating half-birthdays and St Swithin’s Day (15th July)!

An honour to celebrate the inimitable @SalmanRushdie at Hay Festival tonight. And a blessing to receive to receive a pocketful of buttercups from @MargaretAtwood

Yaldi! 🏆 So proud of narrator, Chris Reilly. Loved his acceptance speech. ‘Can you hear me? Yes? But can you understand me?’ A huge win for Glaswegian voices. Thank you!
The Book of the Year - Audiobook: Fiction Award (supported by @TimesRadio) goes to YOUNG MUNGO by @Doug_D_Stuart & narrated by Chris Reilly, who the judges said brought "the written dialect to life" with his narration. Congratulations! @panmacmillan #BritishBookAwards #Nibbies
ALT A mobile phone, with the audiobook Young Mungo by Douglas Stuart open on the screen, is upright on a wooden table standing next to a British Book Awards prize in the shape of a pen nib. Against a black background is a pile of books that is slightly blurred. White text at the top reads The British Book Awards, Winner, Book of the Year - Audiobook: Fiction
New book club alert! Thrilled that Shuggie Bain is the first pick for the new @DUALIPA x @service95 book club. There’ll be plenty to talk about!
We honestly can’t celebrate translators enough.
So huge congrats to Lenka Sobotová for winning the #magnesialitera with her Czech translation of Shuggie Bain. Gratulujeme, Lenka!
👏👏👏This was no mean feat. “…Lenka Sobotová has fulfilled her task in a sovereign way… the authentic voices of Stuart's characters… work quite naturally in Czech, as if it were not even a translation. Nothing is a more conclusive sign of a good translation than just that.”
Read this. For @G_Armstrong21 is the real deal.
Many have asked how I managed to pull out of the tailspin of chaos my life was in… others, about the catalysts for that change.
Here is it… the madness of Scottish young team gang culture, family, faith, forgiveness

If I’ve achieved nothing else, at least I’ve plastered two lads kissing all around the town.
