More communications tips: Emphasize short positive interactions ("I see you, I know what you like, I like you"). Look for opportunities to help kids take role in growing their own confidence/self-esteem. #teentalk #kslkids #realconvo (2/2)

Tips for communication with teens from Dr. Matt Woolley: start with empathy. Listen reflectively. Use "I statements." Make it about their behavior, not about them. Ask Socratic questions -- don't tell them what to do, ask questions to get them to figure it out. (1/2)

A good reminder to always be on the lookout for pedestrians and bicycle riders. One of my co-worker's kids has a tough fight ahead.

Just spoke with @gopTODD. He told me this: “Without the tax on services that was rejected last week, there are only a few big options left to fix our structural imbalance. One of them is fully restoring the tax on food.”

Dave: Many people who go in to law enforcement don’t do it to get rich.
Deb: Ya, but they don’t do it to get poor either.
