Thx for the prayers — Turns out cutting out chunks of yer liver is no joke, man.
Good news, bad news, and next steps…
Good: big liver surgery last week successfully cleared out a bunch o cancer. (Pretty darn great — considering 9 mons ago, when told I had 3-4 months to live, surgery wasn't even an option.)
Bad: Tests on the tumors show they were more advanced than we thought — meaning always-mutating tumors have developed some resistance tricks to our former treatment protocol.
Bummer but that's life, and was eventually expected.
Next:
We're gunna change up treatment to carpet-bomb-chemo as much of the rest of the cancer as we can for a bit.
Send chemo tips -- do NOT send more Nickelback promotional materials (am painfully aware they’ll be performing at the Hondo Rodeo Fest in Febr).
Grateful to God for this extra time — both time w/ fam and time to fight. Can't say enough good things about…
- daraxonrasib
- MD Anderson’s incredible team of docs, nurses, techs, & researchers
- my wife: Melissa rocks. She’s laughing-crying-fighting-prayin with me every day. Best human I know.
- Corrie, Alex, and Breck are beyond awesome.
Replying to @BenSasse
You've been quiet as of late, Senator. Just wanted to say that I continue to pray for you and your family.
Hello @BenSasse — it’s great to see your writing in the WSJ.
What is the best way to connect with you on a feature in Omaha Magazine? We would love to include your perspective in the next edition of @omahamagazine. My email is [email protected] thank you!
(great gratitude to God)
I spoke to @BenSasse in March, and asked him how long he thought he had left. He said, then: “The trial’s going really well. I would love to see the kickoff of Nebraska’s football season"--Sept. 5.
Today Bowling Green plays Nebraska as the college football season starts. And Ben’s still alive.

Thanks to my thesis committee at the @UNOmaha Department of Sociology and Anthropology for their help getting across the stage yesterday. I could not have done it without my advisor Dr. Beth Ritter + Drs. Brady DeSanti & Alecia Anderson to round out my committee dream team.
Congratulations to Omaha Magazine Executive Editor
@DougMeigs on graduating from the @UNOmaha with a master’s degree in sociology!

Thank you to the directing team! From planning through execution of the big night, the 20th OEAAs would not have been possible without co-directors Hughston Walkinshaw, Lori Lynn Ahrends and Julian Adair.

Long before the Epstein Files Act, decades before the Pizzagate conspiracy theories, there was the Franklin Credit Union scandal out of Omaha, Nebraska.
Read more on how Franklin links up with justice for Epstein’s victims in the forthcoming March/April issue of @omahamagazine
When Alisha Owen heard a survivor describe her experience with Epstein on television, it pulled her back into the Franklin scandal. Now, Owen once again finds herself inside the story, working in familiar territory with others affected by the Epstein case.

Tis the season for hot pot. Words of wisdom from @wingp in @omahamagazine.
Hotpot is more than a meal; it’s a cozy ritual, complete with conversation and the occasional competition over who cooked their meat just right.
Whether you’re new to the hotpot game or a seasoned hotpot master, here are a few spots to explore:
