I think the tipping point has been reached and this place is longer for me, so I’m going to slowly withdraw. Find me on Bluesky or Mastodon.
30+ year dreams came true at #emfcamp when I won the demo category of @fx_field, best of all my demo was about all you wonderful people who make @emfcamp so magical including you @emfSpiders and @EmfDucks youtu.be/vbVxBFGAl4Q
You can now find me on Mastodon @doug@toot.wales as well as here on Twitter
Well that's done, the end of an era, my last day of work for a company I've been with for over 11 years. Drinks tonight then week off before the start of a new chapter in my career.
Had a great @fx_field, came joint 6th in 128b fantasy compo, 3rd in demo and @PurplNinja_ came second in young person's compo
The demo is almost complete, I have a theme, some algorithmic graphics, music (thanks @MSGS_Wavetable!) and now just waiting on some artwork from the daughter to complete the package. Just hope it comes together in time for the deadline
Been working on a demo for @fx_field and quite enjoying getting more familiar with 2D canvas drawing. Biggest challenge now will be trying to track a tune to go with it which I haven't done for about 20 years.
Burning hot sand, clear blue seas, shoals of fish on the shore, beating sun. No I'm not in the Mediterranean just West Wales.
From last night, around 40 lines of code and under £15 of total cost you can use a @Raspberry_Pi Pico to make a banana into a USB keyboard
Depressing stats on GCSE Computer Science by gender in Wales, females make up just 14% of candidates or 2.45 per school, no wonder my daughter doesn't know any other girls taking the subject ☹️
My daughter has picked Computer Science as one of her GCSE options 🎉, now I'm in a rabbit hole of actually looking at what they teach and what the difference between the English and Welsh GCSE is
In Wales object-oriented methodology is taught and markup / declarative using HTML. The choice of accepted languages is weird, apparently DOS-era QBasic and old school Pascal are still submissible 😂
I will look into this further but my initial take is @Raspberry_Pi will have quite a chunk of extra work to cover WJEC / Welsh GCSE Computer Science needs in addition to the English GCSE. Is this going to be covered by the Issac platform @philipcolligan?
