I bridged $SOL from Solana into a shielded coin on Midnight mainnet today, then brought some back. All of it is on-chain:
• Signed one message with a Solana key, which deterministically derived a Midnight wallet. Nothing installed.
• Sent SOL to a vault on Solana with a memo naming that shielded Midnight address → solscan.io/tx/5ZBbzEGg3EUWLp…
• The relayer minted bridged SOL on Midnight → midnight.subscan.io/tx/004ad…
• …and wrapped it straight into a shielded coin for those keys → midnight.subscan.io/tx/00f52…
• Return leg: burned on Midnight → midnight.subscan.io/tx/00b10… and the vault released it on Solana → solscan.io/tx/5EJY99zRPQSQgG…

Stayed 1:1 backed throughout: what the vault held equaled what was in circulation on Midnight.
This was a proof of concept — custodial v1, lock-and-mint with a single relayer, the same trust model as every bridge live on Midnight today. Not open to the public.

Cardano (with Masumi) has now been merged as a working implementation into the official x402 repository.
Previously only the specification was in there but now Cardano is also available via the official x402 packages in various programming languages.

Over the last 7 days, Cardano DEXs have processed $151.01 million in volume, up 1,551% week on week.
On 22 August alone, volume reached 245.31 million ADA, the highest daily level ever recorded to date on Cardano.
More capital is moving on chain, liquidity is being used, and activity is accelerating across the ecosystem. You can see the surge below in the image.

I'm extremely excited for this announcement so I decided to build a little explanation page for x402 on Cardano.
Cardanos core architecture is extremely strong for x402 with the eUTXO model. Combine this with Leios, Hydra and Masumi and we have a killer stack.
My ambition is definitely to make Cardano the nr. 1 Agent-To-Agent chain in the world.
The Cardano Foundation has joined x402 as an Associate Member under the @linuxfoundation
x402 is an open payment standard that revives the HTTP 402 status code so that applications and AI agents can pay per request in stablecoins without accounts, API keys, or a checkout page.
Open standards make that kind of machine-to-machine commerce possible.
Early adoption by Cardano ecosystem projects such as @MasumiNetwork and @ODATANO_V4 shows how quickly open standards can move into real-world applications.

Charles Hoskinson co-founded Ethereum, but he left because the team didn’t listen to his ideas for building a better blockchain.
He didn’t give up. He created Cardano and introduced the Extended UTXO (eUTXO) model in 2021. This system makes transactions more predictable, faster to run in parallel, secure, and without endless state growth problems.
Now in 2026, Ethereum researchers are proposing native UTXO solutions to fix their network’s state bloat — exactly the kind of ideas Charles had years ago.
They didn’t listen back then.
They are now turning to the same innovation he built.
This is more than technology — it’s proof that staying true to your vision matters.
Charles walked away from Ethereum not because he failed, but because he wanted to build something greater. Today, the world’s second-largest blockchain is looking at what Cardano has been doing successfully for years.
Respect to Charles Hoskinson for leading the way.
Sometimes the best ideas come from those who dare to leave and build better.

If i was @IOHK_Charles i’d be annoyed AF that for like 10 years he been preaching superior tech and most of the industry been fudding him….
But than @VitalikButerin slowly and steadily pivots Ethereum into most of tech concepts Charles researched and implemented and is instead applauded like he is innovating.
Charles will get no apologies and no recognition Because the internet always wins.

It's not like I've been literally working on this topic for over 10 years of my life and launched a cryptocurrency that was number three on coinmarketcap with millions of users to deploy it. It's literally a crime in the Ethereum inner circles to mention Cardano. EUTXO is the biggest innovation of the smart contract world and Ethereum cannot mention it as they literally try to copy it.

Payments should be one-shot objects, not permanent state.
Bitcoin got this right. Ethereum can bring the same idea to payments: prove existence from history, keep only a spent bit in state, and reduce permanent state by ~99.8%.
