Beautiful work led by Prof. Wenhao Shao - twisted and helical 2D perovskites nanowires!
Grateful to all who made this work possible - especially Zhichen, Hanjun, Yi, @ProfSavoie, @DouLetian. This closes an important chapter that started at Purdue, and opens a new one at @universityofga . Much more to explore in how crystals break symmetry and acquire chirality.
A great story about our recent work on novel ionic liquid additive for stable perovskite solar cell.
##IonicLiquids significantly enhance #Perovskite solar cell stability, enabling devices to retain 90% performance after 1,500 hours at 90°C under continuous sunlight. @NatureEnergyJnl doi.org/hbdc4h techxplore.com/news/2025-12-…
RP phase and DJ phase layered halide perovskite mateirals have been widely studied. In this work, together with @ProfSavoie we introduce "BD" phase, which could be more stable and more tunable! Congratulations to Dr. Chenjian Lin and the team.
Our latest work in @DouLetian lab just published! @NatureChemistry We synthesized and obtained single crystal of intralayer bidentate "B-D" phase 2D perovskites which show superior stability in films and devices!

New theoretical understanding of the carbon-carbon bond, depolymerization, and degradation of butadiene derivatives by my close collaborator and friend @ProfSavoie !
In theory, every polymer returns to monomer above its ceiling temperature. But for the bulk of plastic waste streams, simple “heat it up” strategies for recovering monomer are defeated by competitive thermal degradation.
For the past few years we’ve been working with the @DouLetian group to see if we could tune the ceiling temperatures of polybutadienes, a versatile and potentially very inexpensive class of polymers, down to a useful range. We’ve now comprehensively studied several design strategies—radical delocalization, lone-pair donation, hyperconjugation, steric substitution—and discovered an embarrassment of riches. It turns out to be relatively easy to suppress the ceiling temperature so that monomer recovery is possible without resorting to bulky or complex substitutions that would limit molecular weights or scalability. Perhaps more surprisingly, several simple all-carbon designs are predicted to be controllably depolymerizable, including an experimental demonstration of quantitative monomer recovery from the remarkably simple 2,5-dimethyl-2,4-hexadiene repeat unit. This work was led by the phenomenal Bumjoon Seo (now faculty at Seoultech) with experiment led by Qixuan Hu (now at Dow).
