“Oi, have you got a licence for that pond?” The Environment Agency have now taken time out of their busy schedule of ignoring environmental crime to pay me a visit & threaten me with prosecution for creating a pond without a permit. It would almost be funny if it wasn’t so infuriating. @EnvAgency have done pretty much nothing over the last decade to help restore the ecology along the Roding that they & their predecessor (the National Rivers Authority) have helped to destroy. But when a group of volunteers fundraise money & put in time & effort to do their job for them, they threaten to prosecute them for it. This threat is made even more ridiculous by the catalogue of dozens of serious environmental crimes (from huge illegal sewage spills to dumping thousands of tonnes of waste in the river) that I have reported to the Environment Agency on the Roding & which they have done absolutely nothing about. I will not by swayed or moved from my mission to protect & restore the river I love by the interference of useless bureaucrats who have utterly failed in the role of caring for the river which they are paid to do.
